Modern Country Hallway

This picture is so Modern Country. I love it. If you look beyond the details, it is possible to notice that the staircase is rather dated, the walls aren't smooth and are those plasterboard lines on the ceiling?
But you don't see that, do you? You see the Modern Country STYLE:

the mix of photos, cohered by the black frames and consistently black and white photography;

 the industrial vintage touch of the casually-placed printing block;

a tight colour palette:  black, white and the hint of gentle winter-seas on the tongue and groove door;

the use of the scrolled  metal on the mirror brings a little softness, making this hallway firmly Country....

  13. It is just gorgeous! I love that door. I would love a close up of it. It is so neat it reminds me of the cottage in sleeping beauty that the fairies and Aura live in. You know you are around littles too much when you start relating everything to a Disney movie:> anyways great post

  17. Dear Sarah, I am so pleased to have found you, since through your delightful weblog I shall come to understand what modern country style is. For my own part, my style could perhaps be best described as country house shabby chic in the town. Although the shabby and the chic are only textile fibres apart!

    I love the black framed black and white photographs massed on the wall. If in doubt I always find that more is more and even more is better still!
