How To Makeover Your Kitchen....

We're back to that time where I make us all feel
rubbish about our own kitchens.

Is it? Is it? Hmmm?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
Can't hear you at the back.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

No, honeypops, this is the time where we can work through
what it is that we LOOOOOVE about other
kitchens and incorporate those ideas into our own choices. Remember?

Shall we get back on track with a bit of
K i t c h e n  D e l e c t a b i l i t y ?
Mmmmmmm?

As a little reminder,
here at Modern Country Style,
we're going through, step by step,
how to makeover a kitchen on any budget....
with plenty of other delightful distractions along the way.

So far, we've looked in delicious detail at:

Before I started doing anything at all to my kitchen,
I look at lots and lots of magazines, books and
online images to help get a feel for what I ♥ LOVE ♥.
Find out here how to stick to what you love.
And love what you've stuck to.

Click for the best way I've found to narrow down what I really, reeeeeeeally like, as opposed to what is currently catching my fashion-eye.

My aim is to try and create a kitchen that encompasses
as much as possible of what I love.
And will adore for a looooooooong time to come.

and we're now slap-bang in the middle of:

Whether you're starting from scratch or making the most of what you have in place already, I hope you'll be able to glean some lovely ideas and inspiration
from what I have to show you.

I've shared my first choice for our kitchen which was
Farrow and Ball's Blue Grey....(click for Case Study)
but that would have been too much intensity painted all over every wall of as the kitchen doesn't get too much natural light in the winter months.

So, what to do? Find out tomorrow....

  3. Nice kitchen. Mine is about half that size but it will have those cabinets and pulls and a few glass doors. For paint I'm thinking a pale aqua blue as there is very little wall space to cover and I'd like a change from yellow. Have a great day! Pamela

  7. I am also narrowing down my 'loves' for our home. I really went through all my inpspiration pics and found the common theme, which for some weird reason was surprising at times! Love your inspiration photos- it looks very warm and calm.

  8. Ooooooh...Sarah, I love that stove! I love that kitchen! :D Can I have it, please? As you know, we are finishing up our kitchen and it's been a long process but I'm happy with the choices we've made. I agree with choosing things that will stand up over time and not just what catches your fancy now.
    Have a sweet day!

  10. Is this your kitchen, Sarah? I love it. Love the red stripy mugs and the red stove. Wish I could pop in for a cup of tea right now. . . except I just had oral surgery and can't drink anything hot for a few more hours.

I am looking forward to the rest of this kitchen series.

  16. i am very biased. i say spend as much time and money on your kitchen design as you wish (without guilt) because this room will mean so much to your family and friends. i spend so much time cooking, cleaning, bathing a dog in ours it would appear i have worn out the kitchen faucet (4 yrs old).

    hugs to you, Country Contessa.

  24. All ya have to do is put "kitchen" in a post title these days and I'm all over it. I can't wait to see what else you share with us. I'm down to the nitty gritty decisions like fabric, faucet, backsplash, ugh...those are stressing me out more than the big decisions!

  32. Hello Sarah

This is a very pretty kitchen, although, it's a bit too fitted and perfect. On the other hand, the colour is just right. Though, I would change out the red Aga with a more harmonious colour.

I'm looking forward to part 2 of your kitchen guide.
