Hey rabbits,
Come on in.....
Today, let's talk tweed.
Itchy, scratchy and clammy?
Or super-duper scrummy?
{I want to hear what you think....}
But here's my tuppence-worth:
Tweed totally makes
my Style Britannia list.
BUT ONLY:
when it's fitted,
when it's cut well,
when it's paired with right pieces.
Here's why I like this look:
It's Modern
The three-quarter length sleeves
The ruching around the shoulders
It's Country
The classic styling of the lined, tweed pencil skirt
It's Modern Country
My lovely home-made bucket bag.
Remember the first
I've had so many compliments about that bag.
People ask where I got it from and I get to say,
in the casualest voice in the world,
'Oh, this? I made it'...
{and then I absolutely glow for the rest of the day}
If there's one thing you make this year,
it should definitely be a bucket bag. Adorable.
Adorable outfit and I love the bag... wish I could sew! xo
ReplyDeleteThis bag was so super-easy - you can *definitely* make it!! Really!!
ReplyDeleteSarah, this is the second time in a week that you've been thinking the same thing as me style wise! First the boots now this skirt (although my tweed is a vintage tailored jacket from Joules).
ReplyDeleteI love your look and your gorgeous bag - you are so my style Britannia guru.
Melissa xx
Love it! I can feel another "Super Sarah Craft Moment" coming on. Hmmm....now where to purchase that Cabbage and Roses fabric here in Far North Queensland? Stay tuned! ;)Sharyne
ReplyDeleteYou are just. so. cute. I honestly never would have thought to put bright pink with a brown skirt, but it works so well! Love it!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Do you wear tweed all year round over there? Because that would be a no-no here. Hmmmm.
Not in high summer but it's perfect for late Spring and early Autumn...and, to be honest, some of the grey days we get during summer!!! It's alwyas ice to have a happy outfit for grey days.....
ReplyDeleteBah humbug to grey days!
Sarahx
You are so pretty and stylish! Love the bag and shoes!
ReplyDeleteWell, don't you look cute just a strolling down the street?! What a stylish ensemble, especially with that gorgeous bag :)
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful and love your hat! What a great outfit and still just love your bag my dearie. I do not own any tweed, sad I know because I do like just never have anywhere to wear it. :(
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day!!
XO
Love this look Sarah! You are stunning. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a cutie~ wonderful outfit and loving that darling bag Sarah!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful girl!
ReplyDeleteMari
And how many children did you say you have? Hmmm not looking very Mom like in those photos ;) More like one of Ralph Lauren's top models.
ReplyDeleteTweed...I happen to love it, although it doesn't have much of a place in California where I am. For a brief period I lived in Illinois where it got very cold and had a favorite tweed skirt, I wore with gorgeous leather boots. I paired it with a beautiful sweater. So yes on the tweed, always a classic Sarah. And your bag, well, perfection. If only I could sew. I am starting a sewing project soon, some "pillows" as we call them here in the States. And when I get better, some florals, xxx
As my younger daughter would say a cool look Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteOk, seriously??? You look like you are straight out of a magazine!! Beyond lovely! I love how you made that look so classic and yet so modern and chic at the same time. I was looking around for a little convertible sports car for you to hop into and ride off into the sunset! :-)
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Aww... Sarah, just darling! You are rocking that tweed skirt! You could be a model :) My mom modeled when she was young and I have a picture of her in a tweed/plaid skirt with boots. I should email it to you. Anyway, styles really do go full circle. I like this look because I think it's timeless. I love how you've pulled it off. The pictures are so fun! I only own one tweed skirt but I love to wear it when I get the chance. It is a gray plaid with a tiny bit of red. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a good one, sunny girl :)
xoxo
You've kind of got the "sexy secretary" look going on...so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous dahling!! As for tweed...it's a classic...always in style. I love browns but look awful in them so I always opt for black/gray. I bought a man's tweed sport jacket at a thrift...great style and color and working on a special project with it for Fall....shhh. :) Have a wonderful week. ~ Lynn
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteHow adorable, classic and stylish you look! Looks like your off to meet the girlfriends for lunch! Some things just never go out of style and that look is one of them.
Years ago, I bought a men's tweed jacket at a thrift store and wear it fall and winter with my jeans and get a lot of compliments on it.

So I was a bit confused....that is you in the photo? I thought it was from a magazine, really, the colors and the clothes are classic, I was looking for the *image* credit, so to make this a shorter comment, it ll looks Great! Love the bag too and yes, be proud of making it, it's superfine!

ReplyDeleteI still haven't had time to try any sewing but when I do, I am going to try and make that bag!

ReplyDeleteWay back in the day, when I had an office job, I had a pair of tan tweedy trouser leg pants that were comfortable, oh-so-flattering and chic--just like your outfit! I ought to dig them out and revive for when these 90+ degree days pass.
Has anyone told you you favor Gwyneth Paltrow in that last photo?
