Hey there, pumpkin pie.
{Mmm, yes.
I said pumpkin pie.
I am nothing if not topical.....}
Welcome to the first of my official Autumn posts,
leading up to my Fall In Love link party
on Wednesday 5th October.
This month's Country Homes and Interiors
{love that magazine}
featured this completely gorgeous house.
And I don't use the term 'completely gorgeous' lightly.
Oh no. That's a very specific term, don't you know.
It was one of those features that when you first turn the page and see it,
your heart seems to jump up into your throat.
I've done a little bit of foraging online
and managed to dig up some more images.
{You have no idea how happy that made me...}
Would you believe this is a new build?
I don't think I've *ever* featured a new build
on Modern Country Style.
It's virgin territory, so to speak.
The company who've built this home have used ancient techniques
using a green oak frame, which gives instant character.
It was the gorgeous colour scheme that very first caught my ogling eye;
the harmonious palette that runs through the whole house
is absolutely up my street.
Whole house?.... up my street?
Man, am I on fire today....
Every little detail of this beautiful house is perfectly styled.
The mix of raw wood and painted furniture is lovely, don't you think?
The only feature in the whole house that I wouldn't snaffle in a second
is the rather odd-looking chandelier in the master bedroom.
It just seems a bit nothingy to me.
{Another official term: nothingy...}
But overall, my vote is firmly in as a 'Yes, pleeeeeease!!'
Coming up for you soon,
I've got a wreath-making workshop,
an English autumn outfit,
and a scrumptious post
on how to fabulise your autumn dining room.....
It's gonna be a busy one.....

I love that magazine too Sarah, this house also got my attention!! it is so pretty and country and gorgeous and I want it!!
ReplyDeleteBee happy x
Have a delicious day!
Amazing house! I love the simplicity of it. The living room slightly reminds me of mine before I painted it.
ReplyDeleteI can't quite make out the bedroom light shade.
The child'sroom is very simple and elegant.
Gorgeous.x
Sarah, OMG, heart jumped into throat here!! What a beautiful place, so serene. I never would've guessed it's a new build. And that kitchen has the colours of the kitchen I DREAM about - soft green-grey units with black granite. I'm excited that now I actually have a picture to describe what I have been dreaming about. A gem of a find, my lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Meera xx
I saw the article and like you just loved the house, there is a similar looking one in a neighbouring village, and every time we drive past it, I gaze in envy at the oaky loveliness. This would be my sort of dream home, natural wood, which would smell so wonderful, with plenty of windows for as much light possible in these northern climes. That and a wood burning stove and my wish list would be complete.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your new posts, they sound brill.
What a beautiful home. How I miss that magazine! So much inspiration that can just NOT be duplicated here in the US. Thanks for sharing, as always! liz
ReplyDeleteLove this. It's that juxtapostion of old and new that make modern country so gorgeous AND livable.
ReplyDeleteMust have that kitchen.
Oh my goodness how cool is that!! I am loving that it is a new home with such a wonderful old feel ~
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it with us!
Wonderful and original--I really live it. The simplicity of the white walls and wood is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove this color palette!
ReplyDeleteHave a sweet weekend
Mari
OMG I love every single incey wincey thing about it. EVERYTHING I tell you, even the odd looking light fitting in the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteOK, now that I've finished swooooning, I'll get back to painting the skirting boards in our bedroom. Oh what fun.... You have a wonderful weekend. xx
I'm drooling!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Looks like such a calming space!
ReplyDeleteSarah, you rock finding all these images of this new build. I think I am in love with the kitchen and beams! :D
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely, totally, 110% in love with this house!!! Can they ship that here!!!!?? OMG it is GORGEOUS, every bit of it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this dear!!

So many wonderful, thoughtful details. Although we're building on a shoe string, I hope we can do something similar.
ReplyDeleteThis is really too gorgeous, Sarah!! I could move right in! It definitely doesn't look new. I love that it looks a bit Scandinavian!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
lovely home. fI like the views down the hall.
ReplyDeleteLove the color of those cabinets in the kitchen! And all those beams! Heavenly! I think the bedroom chandy looks a bit like silver dipped mistletoe. Maybe they need some compelling to kiss each other goodnight? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous! So much character in that house, I can't believe it's a new build!
ReplyDeleteStunning stunning stunning... fabulous find my dear and hope you have a fantastic weekend xxx
I love all those beautiful beams, and I think a new house that looks old is almost as good as an old house ;). I also love all your made-up words. They make me smile. Hope you have a good weekend! Fall is my favorite season, too (by FAR!).
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of house and I could move straight in and not change a single thing, except for that lamp. I am right with you: what is going on there?
ReplyDeleteAnna
What a lovely house...like the colors !!...did you see my autumn post??? love from me...xxx...
ReplyDeleteIf someone built me a house like this I would be well happy!!
ReplyDeleteJillx

That is an absolutely gorgeous house!!! Thank you so much for finding it and featuring it today. I adore the mix of raw wood and painted furniture and walls. Those colors are the ones you really love, aren't they! I thought of that immediately upon seeing the kitchen. It reminds me of your house.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteAdore this photo shoot in the magazine! That blue/green trunk made me swoon! I agree...what's up with the chandy?
Fondly,
Pat
Gorgeous~ such beautiful inspirations!! Can't wait to see your fabulous Autumn posts!! :)
ReplyDeleteHate to disagree with everyone, but whilst this house is no doubt lovely, to me it felt really souless and empty. I am not a hoarder or clutterbug but there was just a complete lack of personality, of beautiful things, it was like a off the shelf country home complete with non offensive furniture and plain white walls. Maybe it needs time to evolve, maybe they have just moved in??? I really liked the kitchen cupboards though, but the cooker let the whole room down. Again, it just my feelings about it, but a great blog nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull !! I want to get some house like that. thanks !!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us Sarah. It is a lovely house and I imagine it will be a beauftiful home, calming and restful.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes lit up when I say the painted blanket chest in front of the wood burning stove. I've a v. similar stripped one (from Ebay) but the stripping shows up many faults. So it may just be getting painted soon!
Yum, now I want some pumpkin pie!
ReplyDeleteUh.....YUM!
ReplyDeleteI am about to
initiate a re-do
of color {drapes,
etc.} in my house
and now I'm re-
thinking my palette.
I agree with you
about the master
bedroom light. And
I would need more
bedside lighting, as
a reading girl : )
Did I say YUM?
Oops. I did!
xx Suzanne
Yes! Yes! Yes! I want! If I had the resources to redo our entire home, this would probably be "it"! I swoon.... :-) Love all that white and simplicity!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely house. The soft colors and the warm woods make me want to move right in!
ReplyDeleteNow this is actually a new build I could see myself living in. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never ever seen a house built with exposed timber beams throughout. It's really beautiful and that alone is the true focal point of the interior space. Wonderful home feature! And great idea - Fall in Love. :) sugar sweet with sprinkles. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour blog, it's not a blog... it's a dream ! J'aime vraiment beaucoup l'ambiance qui se dégage de vos photos. Je viens de passer un moment très doux dans votre univers; je repasserai par ici avec grand plaisir.
ReplyDeleteà bientôt,
Silène
It really is hard to believe that it is a new build - the details/architecture provide it an old world charm which I LUV!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Marie
The wood burner insert in the firebox is lovely. I'd love to have one like it.
ReplyDeleteHallo Sarah - I love these pictures - it is a great tribute to the designers and architects of this house that it appears immediately "old" to the eye. And I like the "old" atmosphere they've created, in the way the various rooms are linked together with corridors and passageways. As for the "original" wooden beams - don't they give a wonderfully integrated feel to the whole design. And the furnishings are well chosen to give a nice modern flavour, which stops the whole thing from looking too "twee"! Thank you for this post, I really enjoyed reading it. - Angela
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous home indeed! I love that little bed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I could use some fabulise Fall ideas. Can't wait.
Oooo I am looking forward to the autumn outfit definitely....
ReplyDeleteLove the house and it wasn't until after you said new build that I picked up on it. I would be really interested on seeing the outside of the building as that's what usually swings my vote in the case of new builds - They don't usually look higgledepiggledy enough for me :-)
Great post and looking forward to the coming ones - I love autumn, one of my favourite seasons (I have four favourites)
Lizzy x
I love everything about the house, all the gorgeous creams with muted colours and the timber and furnishings, but one thing is missing for me and that's deep window sills...that's what makes it seem new and not old and authentic to me. But saying that, I'd still swap that house for mine any day! Lovely pics and inspiration and I'm looking forward to more autumn inspiration :) xxx
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it is a new build as it has so much charm and character. All the wood and detailing speak of a home that has been loved and nurtured for a great number of years.
ReplyDeleteI think the chandie is hung too high :) but as you say the whole thing is fab :) le xox
ReplyDeletethat is not an amazing old, gorgeously aged residence?! I don't believe it. Wonderful, delightful, fresh and lovely. Thanks for sharing...that project makes me feel that our big renovation, using some salvaged goods, will meld right in to our 1860s cottage with none the wiser. I was so concerned that it would look sooo new. Who knew? Nicely done. Lovely home. We will post photos of our mudroom and kitchen soon, hope it reads as well as this place.

ReplyDeleteThat kitchen is exactly (EXACTLY!!!) what I want. I love the color of the cabinets and the countertops. What a beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteLoVe this post!
ReplyDeleteand you for sharing it,
what a beautiful job they did on this home with all the attention to details.
It made my heart sing !
Gosh, I love the wood details on the wall, especially that in the bedroom! Using triangles for the interior design works so well. It actually looks like a big attic to me. Well, if anyone wishes to have a good attic room design, this inspiration can work!
ReplyDeleteI recognise the lightshade in the master breadroom - it's a Tord Boontje "garland light" which is actually really pretty. It's a sort of long string of foil leaves and flowers (comes in silver, brass or gold) and you wind it messily around the bare bulb.
