My Perfect Weekend Away...

I've just had one of the best weekends of my life.
Mr Modern Country surprised me with a pre-baby trip away.
Eeeek!!

He told me we were going to visit his parents
....which we were....
but it turned out that it was for the children
to have a special holiday...

and for us to go on to here....

As we drove up the driveway,
I had a hunch that this was somewhere lovely...
and, wooooah....
it was!

Rushton Hall.
An Elizabethan Country Spa Hotel.

I can't even begin to tell you how special a time it was.
So romantic.
It was an incredible place to stay.

We played cards and had drinks here...

Had long, lazy breakfasts here...

Then, on Saturday, Guy suggested that we might like to visit Barnsdale Gardens,
which was the base of BBC Gardener's World for 13 years. We had a lovely gentle walk round all 39 mini-plots before having a delicious lunch.

There were lots of quiet spots for sitting down and resting
...good for pregnant legs....
...and kissing...

Spending prolonged time together alone
feels like such a huge luxury at the moment.
I am so grateful for the snatches of solitary gorgeousness that we do get.

Thank you, Mr MC.
You totally wooed me.

  3. Oh. My. Word! What an amazingly romantic, wonderful thing for him to do. As we say over here: "He's a keeper!"

I'm going to have to look up Rushton Hall. It looks similar to a place where we stayed several years ago in North Yorkshire called Swinton Park. Lovely, lovely grounds to walk around and beautiful rooms to just relax in. We dream of going back there someday. Ahhhhh.

  5. That is one amazing location for a hotel! We like to get away to nice Bed and Breakfast type places where we can have fancy meals in fancy rooms too, but I've never been anywhere like there! I think you deserved it!

  17. Wow! As I blearily check mail at 4:40 this morning prior to a long commute to work I DO have to admit to a spot of Elizabethan spa envy. Lord love Texas, where I live, but it ain't got no b&bs like that!

  21. Ahhhhhhh... Sarah, I can hear your sigh of contentment from here (all the way over in Alberta, Canada!).

With princess-like treatment like that no wonder you keep having more babies! (Guy sounds almost as great as my Billy! Too bad I'm way too old to have more babies!).

Thanks for sharing your romantic weekend with us :)

  32. Personally, I usually spend my weekends creating dance tracks and uploading them to Soundcloud. This is my favorite hobby. Of course I dream of being popular in the field of dance music and that's why here I ordered services to promote my tracks on Soundcloud. And I already have the first results in increasing followers and likes. Just do me good luck!
