A prince is born! Kate and William show off their newborn baby!

Stop Press! Stop Press!

Special moment: Prince William and Kate waved and smiled broadly to the waiting cameras as they held their prince on the steps of the private Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in London

A prince is here!

Magic: With the world watching, Kate and William hold their prince outside the Lindo Wing in a genuinely historic moment for Britain

George Alexander Louis was born on Monday 22nd July, weighing a very respectable 8 pounds and 6 ounces.

New life: The baby was crying in his car seat as his father took him to their waiting car yesterday evening

Kate and William presented His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge to cheering crowds outside the hospital.

Emotional: The new mother looked delighted as she looked down at her first child while her husband waved to the excited crowds

But the big news here is that Kate Middleton made no efforts to hide her post-baby bump. With such ridiculous amounts of pressure on celebrities to get back to shape the moment they've given birth, I think Kate deserves a humongous cheer for standing up for the mother's of new-born babies everywhere.

Protective: The baby was wrapped in a white shawl - Kate held her new son closely to her chest as she waved to the impressive crowd

The magazine OK! has been absolutely slated for their quick-off-the-press article discussing Kate's training program...and rightly so. These early days with your very own scrummy bundle are utterly precious and should be fiercely guarded.

Gentle: The trio take their first steps together into the outside world together as the prince starts his life

It's looks to me as though this pair will go a long, long way.

Hooray for Britain!!

  1. Well, you know how I felt about that disgraceful mag cover. But I do feel like the Duchess of Cambridge has become beloved by mums everywhere for being relaxed and real and unembarrassed about the post birth body shape - just hope she feels confident to take all the time she needs to recover her strength and bond with her little boy and not give a stuff what the daft media come up with. OKay have issued an apology. Sniff.

  3. I noticed the post-baby figure, too, and I gave the Duchess a virtual High Five for it. Such a beautiful family.

  4. I do find it interesting with OK! that they were lambasted for the pressure on Kate Middleton but not for every other celebrity they do it to.

Perhaps this will be the beginning of a new family-focussed trend, rather than the ridiculous and unrealistic pressure that faces most mothers.

Here's to babymoons and all the joy they bring!!

  5. Oh I agree with you, and she looks fabulous anyway. They are just a wonderful couple and I'm so happy for a young role model with class for my daughters. We don't have any here in the US.

  7. What a happy day for your country, Sarah. I loved watching this sweet and tender moment. It doesn't seem that long ago that you were taking your sweet baby home.

  8. Their baby is beautiful, so precious! And I think Kate looks just gorgeous and love how authentic she is. Will and Kate both seem like such nice people, as if they are simply the sweet couple down the lane!

    And I agree with Anita~
we are in desperate need of true role models {in the public square} for our young girls, and boys for that matter. I feel that Kate is just that!

I hope you have a beautiful day, Sarah!

    Blessings,
    Jenni

  9. What you said totally warmed my heart! I applaude Kate for keeping things in perspective - and you're right, this time - right now - should be spent soaking in the glory of her newborn - future heir to the throne or not. She is a Mummy first. A Royal second. And also importantly is that she is the treasured wife of her husband. Nothing else really matters right now. Let them enjoy the blissfull haze of being new parents I say! :)
May they be blessed as a family.

Hope you are enjoying the gorgeous days of summer Sarah. Your little sugar plum must be wandering around by now!
    Hugs,

  10. I agree! Such a sweet family, and good for her for keeping it real. She looked lovely. Also, my firstborn, who is leaving home soon :( , weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. It makes me feel happy to hear of their little George. That's actually a good-sized baby for a first-time Mom.
