Home Tour: Kate Macey from The Great Interior Design Challenge

Do you watch The Great Inteior Design Challenge? Apparently a new series is impending so I thought I'd remind you all of one of my favourite contestants of all time:

Kate Macey
{Yes, I know there was that faux fan moment but bear with me...}

Her designs were consistently beautiful....
and so is her home, which started life out as a rectory...

Shall we begin in the kitchen?
The country style units are given that Modern Country edge and have been painted in the muted loveliness of Farrow and Ball Elephant's Breath.

The living room is painted in Farrow and Ball's Cornforth White and is so calm and restful.

The parquet flooring has been painted black, which ties in with the Labroor fabric by Emily Bond, used to make the curtains.

In the snug, Farrow and Ball Shaded White walls are set off by Farrow and Ball Hardwick White woodwork....

...which is a colour scheme that's continued in the Master bedroom...

The cushions (and the curtains in the snug, are by Ian Mankin who creates the gorgeous checks and stripes.

I love the way fabric designs are repeated throughout the house....

Kate Macey has a shop in Somerset called Living Pretty, which, no surprise, is also extremely gorgeous and, you should be warned, dear reader, also full of extremely tempting treasures!!

  1. Hi Sarah,
    This house is very pretty with its builtins, gorgeous fireplaces and wood floors. I have been watching BBC's Escape to the Country and have fallen in love with the English style of decorating. This house is a good example of what I have been seeing on that show. I love the soft restful colours and especially the use of pink. It seems that almost no one uses pink in North America at this time and what a shame because I love it.
    Modern Country is truly beautiful!

  3. Beautiful House. My house is very similar in style but I have more soft pinks and duck eggs than she uses.

  5. It's just an amazing tour of the house! He looks just fine. It seems to me that the interior is thought out to the last detail. I think that you should tell us more about this house, for example how much money you have invested in its construction, and how much time it took.
