So, it's decided then.
Best friends is
What. We. Are.
Now and forever.
{Best of British giveaway}
With that in mind,
care to join me for a cup of tea
...or a whole pot, why not?....
while we chat over what to do if your kitchen
doesn't have a table and chairs
for that oh-so-country feel?
Because rule number two
for any Country Kitchen
is that there should be some kind of
eating space in the kitchen.
Errr....no can do...
{Best of British giveaway}
Here's what we chose to do to get round that li'l puppy.....
Our kitchen door opens up into our dining room
so we simply painted our dining room
a slightly paler shade of the kitchen colour.
Slightly paler because our dining room gets less natural light.
I'm thrilled with the way using the
same colour palette brings the
two distinct rooms into one space.

Did you get my subliminal message throughout that post? Sneaky, eh?!
Come back on Tuesday,
um, yeah, tomorrow,
for my first ever
and extremely gorgeous
Giveaway.
One word: Spode Baking Days.
Oops, that was three.
Whatever.
Be there.

There's SO many things I love about your space...the color, the tablecloth, the teapot, the heart, the tall cabinets....it is definately a family country kitchen.
We don't have a table either because I was forcing everyone to walk around the small corner and use the dining room. It's worked but does feel odd not having a table in the kitchen to gather at. So I got a big island!
See you tomorrow!
Sarah xo
Love the colour scheme! and the mugs.. Having my cup of tea right now!
Your house is just perfect! Lx
Um, love the old sewing machine on top of your piano in the dining room. What fun.
I just love seeing pics of your home my friend and think the flow from one room to the next is spot on! Can't wait for the giveaway...you were very subtle about it! :-)
Vanessa
Love your teapot with hearts
Have a nice evening

I'd love to share a pot of tea with yousweet lady!
Have a great day!
Deborah xoxo
Lovely, Sarah! The rooms do flow together nicely. Now,about that giveaway -- Spode? Wow! See you there!
I love how you have invited people into the dining room from the kitchen with the same color palatte. I love your fun tea pot!
Have a great day!
Hey girlfriend!
You've used your space wisely. I couldn't agree more with using the same shades of paint from room to room. It really makes your house flow and seem bigger. We tried to do that with our kitchen and dining room, as well. It felt so disjointed from the rest of the house, before we painted. Love your piano in the dining room, too. Your home is so relaxed and beautiful!
Curious to see your giveaway. Hope you have a great week!
xoxo

Can't wait to see what your giveaway is all about!
Hugs!

Did I hear someone say the word SPODE.
I just love your style Sarah, not too much, not too little - just right.
Hello there Sarah! It has been so long since I have been able to stop by the tornado really threw our lives upside down for a while. Still aren't back to normal completely, but I am happy to be making the rounds visiting my favorite blog gals! Hope your week is off to a fantastic start!
So smart! Also, maybe a little bit sneaky! Plus your teapot is so cute, it pretty much makes any picture it's in...
Yes, I will take a cup my love -
And we dont have a table in our "kitchen" per say... but our kitchen is open to our "dining area" and we have seating at our island too. I absolutely LOVE this setup. It is so homey to have everyone in one area drinking, eating and gossiping...er, I mean chatting, together ;)
XOX
Great style, great pics!
xo Cathy
Sarah,
I just saw you on Michele's blog. What an amazing post she prepared for you. It was so beautiful! You truly deserve it. :-)

I wish I had a dining room. The kitchen/dining area/family room are really one open space across the back of the house, but it's not huge. So I really just have a dining "area", and it's kind of cramped.
Just wondering darling Sarah, are you having a "Best of British giveaway" by any chance???
See you soon...I LOVE spode!!!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
PS I love your pictures of your fabulous home too.
xo
My someday kitchen
will most definitely
have a table and
chairs in it! An island
just isn't as cozy : )
Excited about your sweet
giveaway, Sarah!
xx suzanne
Your dining room is so pretty and the color does unify the space, you are so right!
A giveaway, my very dear friend forever??? Yippee, I will be back!
Hugs, Cindy
The color you chose for your walls is just gorgeous! It is very rich and warm.
Your kitchen looks so welcoming... especially since you set out the sweet tea pot for us!
So nice to meet you!
Yvonne
did someone say Spode? oh my.
Sarah, your home is simply fabulous. I love the little revealing slices through your exeptional photographs. And your flawless taste.
Your rooms do flow together so nicely, Sarah. I wish I could come sit at your table and have a little chit-chat. Can't wait to hear more about your giveaway :)
Your posts make me laugh! And, of course, keep me inspired. I'll be back for the giveaway... although it's already Tuesday in Australia, after lunch in fact, but I'm happy to wait. gxo
Your kitchen/dining room are so cozy! Can't wait to see what you have hiding in your hat :)XOL
My kitchen is tiny, so I will be doing the same, linking the two spaces together with similar colours. If that is your tea pot I am a teensy bit envious, in a nice way of course. Your dining area is gorgeous and I just love the colours. I wish I could visit for a cuppa. it is so stylish and homely. x
They do seem to flow together and so cosy Sarah, I need to replace my kitchen table its too big and when folded down the chairs don't fit under. Looking forward to the givaway, I'll be back :) x
How gorgeous is your teapot! Just love it. ;)Sharyne
i love your photos on this post, sarah. and so brilliant with the color scheme, really. know that when you invite for tea, i am soooo there.
oh goodness. So glad you commented on my blog and thus led me to this little gem of a blog. now excuse me while i spend the next hour or so stalking you back.
this is brilliant! great advice about creating cohesiveness, and so much thought put into your wall colors--amazing.
like a lot of Americans i know, we have an eat in kitchen and a formal dining room, but no one ever wants to actually eat at either of those tables. everyone prefers to pull up a stool to the center island. so these tables just look pretty and stay pretty because they NEVER GET USE!
giveaways are in the air!
michele
Ah!Ah! Two great minds are meeting (that's what French people say when you have the same idea). I can't eat in my kitchen and the dining-room is a separate room. So next summer, I'll rip the wall open so there'll be a door in between... I was thinking of that "same color" scheme for those two rooms. I know I already wrote iit once, but I love your teapot.
O, Sarah...you are sooo cute. :)
I absolutely LOVE what you did with your colors in your kit. and dining area. It sure gives the effect of being one big room...Good Job, lady girl.
Going to make myself a cup of tea now...xo bj
I love how you tied the two rooms together with paint. We kind of have the same situation with our dining room/kitchen, too.
Your kitchen and dining room are gorgeous and inviting and cozy. And I LOVE that teapot!
Meera xx
Your kitchen is adorable and so is your dining room. Your colour scheme is really lovely. Thanks for stopping by Beach Cottage Good Life Wednesdays.
*sigh* I have no room for a table in my kitchen either. Well, I did when we moved in, but with my ever growing collection of umm, other stuff? The table had to be moved to the adjoining room. I kinda miss it in there though
