Gorgeous Victorian House Tour....

Hey chickens,

Who fancies a sneak peek round a stranger's home?

You?

Me too!

Follow me.....the tour bus departs NOW!

This used to be two semi-detached houses.
The owners bought one, and then the other
 - and converted them into one huge house.
Isn't the new front door brilliant?
It looks so original.

And the same goes for the incredible hallway....

You may weep if you wish.

I would kill for tiles like this.
Not literally.
Don't all run for the door.

They added the boarded cladding themselves
to reflect the beachy location.
I love the mix of commitment to period style
alongside the introduction of coastal features like this.

They've made a point of choosing
high end finishes,
which make all the difference,
don't you think?

The scrumdiddlyumptious kitchen is from Thomas & Thomas.
Isn't it gorgeous?
The dresser is painted Parma Grey
by Farrow and Ball.
I feel another case study coming up....

The flooring is by Drummonds.
Doesn't it look incredible?
Rich and old.
Like a gold-digger's dream.

{I know. I knock myself out every time.}

Did you spot the dog looking cosy in the chair?

Blood red slipper bath?
Mmmm, yes, don't mind if I do....

Those exposed-pipe taps could not be
any more lovely if they tried.

All in all,
I'd say that was a thoroughly enjoyable snoop.
Wouldn't you?

I think we've just got time for a little sit-down
and a nice cup of something delicious
before it's time to hop off
and enjoy the weekend....

  2. I am weeping. Weeping with joy. I bought one of those thin shelves to display photos from Ikea but have never put it up because I didn't think it looked that good. Now, I know what to do. I need to buy a few more of them and hang them like in the 3rd picture in your post. Hurrah! Simple! Thank you Sarah, you genius finder of lovely homes to show us (cripes that was a mouthful wasn't it?).

You have a wonderful weekend. xx

  9. How wonderful to find an old house that was once two halves and is now one fantastic home ... it usually happens the other way around. That staircase is unbelievable!! Everything is perfection ... I wonder about the turquoise cupboard .... that dresser in my garage would look fabulous in turquoise ... have a great weekend!

  24. Wow! The most lovely home! Just wanted to say thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment about my madeover chest, it means a lot coming from a pro like you!

The paint I used was Deep Adam Green from the 1829 range by Craig & Rose (speciality vintage shades and all utterly lovely) It's about £10 for a big tin and is an eggshell emulsion, ideal for indoor wood and furniture! The finish is wonderful and the colour is beautiful, sort of country georgian!

    Have a great weekend!

  25. It's been such fun to peep behind the exterior of this house. I would not have guessed that it had started life as two houses, so they have done a great conversion.

The bathroom is my favourite room. It is so dramatic and so Victorian and so luxurious.

  45. I am now playing catch up after our extended hols and visiting my favourite blogs. Oh I do love a nosy at gorgeous homes, and this one is particularily scrumptious, lovely to be back in the bloggy world. I took my laptop with me but service was very limited, more often than not we couldn't get a signal. So it is back to keyboard bashing now.

  46. Wow! I'm totally in love with the kitchen!
Do you make a point to have a dog sleeping on an armchair in all your inspiration posts? I remember there was also a dog in one of your dining-room posts!

  52. Hi lovely!

Oh Sarah... what a beautiful home. Love the juxtapostion of the old with the new. The wood floors and staircase are dreamy! A lot of love has gone into this home. I could spend a lot of time here. Hang out with the ole pup too. The only thing I would change would probably be the lighting in the dining area. Can't figure it out. Otherwise, I'm packing my bags and checking in :)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! We were lazy here :) xxx

  53. This is a gorgeous home - I've always wanted to take two homes next to each other and make them one home like the Beatles movie 'Help!'

A really great blend of traditional and modern beachy!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am intrigued by the way the owners have 3 completely different chandeliers installed in their dining area, but they look pretty together. I wonder if they are all wired or just unlit fixtures? That is very curious and perhaps the first time I've ever noticed anything like that. I also adore the kitchen floor rugs. Along with, well, absolutely everything else.

Hopefully in your next post you will show off that patchwork pillow cover! I'm dying to see it :)

  55. Just found you - immediately in love. Not only because you too have four peanuts in your home, but your style is fabulous!
