The Royal Wedding In Photos

Welcome back to all things
British and Modern Country
sublimely rolled into one delicious day.

Oh my, oh my, oh my. I cried. Yes, I did.
And more than once.

At the wonder of marriage.

At the solemnity before God.

At a whole country coming together.

At the national anthem.

At the balcony kisses.

I marvelled at the beautiful dress.
I should point out that we have moved on from my blubbing list.
It was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.
I love its combination of modesty and majesty.

I soaked up every minute of the British pageantry.

That is quite some train, is it not?

The joy of the occasion was palpable.
The bride looked utterly radiant.

And the couple looked thrilled to be together.

I wish the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
a long and happy life together.

Will and Kate

First up, the most important news.
I know you're dying to hear....
My Cadbury's Creme Egg challenge is a-going well.

And I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying every
lusciously chocolatey second of it.
I'm not quite sure how I've ended up with so many of them.
They seem to be drawn to me like rather delicious magnets.
Mmmm mmmmmmm.

So far this week, we've had a little look at the lovely
Kate Middleton's Day Looks and Evening Numbers.
Modern Country Style at its royal best.
Shall we take a sneaky peek at the happy couple together?
Is ditch water dull??? I do believe it is.
Let's press on...

Now, I know it's not for me to say
...although I'm going to say it anyway....
but I think they look genuinely loving together. Don't you?
They're all smiles and eyes at each other. I love that.

I wish them all the happiness in the world together.
It can't be easy making the decision to have
your life turned upside down but it looks to
my amateur-but-keenly-enthusiastic eye
that their relationship is a good 'un
(yes, that's a technical term..).

Ooh, stop press.

Mr Modern Country has just asked me if I'd like to
go out to lunch today with him. Yes, yes!!
I love going out on lunch dates.
So I'd better stop waffling on quick-smart
and make myself presentable.

Modern Country Style: Kate Middleton Part 2

Hello peeps,

I don't know about you but I just can't get enough of
Kate Middleton's Modern Country Style.

Yesterday, I showed you some of my best Kate-casuals...so today I thought it might be nice to share my favourite of
Kate Middleton's smarter looks.

Kate Middleton, come on down.....

Doesn't she look lovely and pretty?

Frock-a-doodle-doo....

This next one is possibly my favourite dress of them all.
So beautiful and gorgeous.

Speaking of beautiful and gorgeous clothes,
I have to tell you the hilarious conversation I had with
Mr Modern Country last night.

Me: I bought a really lovely dressing gown today.
Mr MC: That sounds nice. What's it like?
Me: Well, it's silk in a sophisticated taupey colour.
Mr MC: *snorts* Huh! You're so funny. You sound like your blog.
Me: You're in trouble, sonny Jim.

I think his punishment should be to watch the WHOLE of the Royal Wedding with me. Yes, I do.
The WHOLE thing from start to finish.

Whaddayasay?

Ooh, and other news just in. I'm wondering if it's a bad thing to eat half my own body weight in Cadbury's Creme Eggs. They're eggs, right? How bad can they be?

Modern Country Style: Kate Middleton

Well, I've steadfastly resisted but I can hold back no more.

I simply must talk about
The Royal Wedding,
by which I have found myself becoming
increasingly and embarrassingly obsessed.

I'm even fretting about Friday's weather forecast
(whispers of thunder storms have been muttered...).

It struck me that Miss Middleton's wardrobe could very easily fit into the category of Modern Country...
classic country but with a current twist...
and so, the idea of this post was born.

Kate Middleton: Modern Country Miss.
{Try saying that with your teeth in}

I've abstained heroically but the time has come, my friends,
to have a bit of a Kate-fest.

I'll have you know that I'm pretty certain I have
those be-buckled
(not an actual real-life word but it surely should be)
tan leather boots.

Debate is raging in our house about how much of
The Royal Wedding we'll be watching. I'm not sure that
Mr Modern Country is terribly keen.

But I will be glued to the screen come Friday.
Will you?

This is my favourite picture of all....

{Probably not the finest example of English-gentlemanly behaviour....
but who can deny that the man has good taste..}

Now, please excuse me.
I need to go and finish off my
Cadbury's Creme Egg stash.
Yummylicious.

Easter & The Garden

I love the new life springing up in our garden,
the lush greeness, the exuberant efflorescence, the wafting scents in mild evenings.
Isn't Spring filled with so much optimism and hope?

And, to me, Easter feels like the absolute pinnacle of all that I adore about this time of year.
The ultimate meaning of new life.

I am so grateful for the eternal hope that I have because of my king, Jesus, through his agonizing death and
glorious resurrection.

Although I don't often talk explicitly about
my Christian faith on Modern Country Style,
it's absolutely central in every aspect of my life.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter.
