Well, I've steadfastly resisted but I can hold back no more.
I simply must talk about
The Royal Wedding,
by which I have found myself becoming
increasingly and embarrassingly obsessed.
I'm even fretting about Friday's weather forecast
(whispers of thunder storms have been muttered...).
It struck me that Miss Middleton's wardrobe could very easily fit into the category of Modern Country...
classic country but with a current twist...
and so, the idea of this post was born.
Kate Middleton: Modern Country Miss.
{Try saying that with your teeth in}
I've abstained heroically but the time has come, my friends,
to have a bit of a Kate-fest.
I'll have you know that I'm pretty certain I have
those be-buckled
(not an actual real-life word but it surely should be)
tan leather boots.
Debate is raging in our house about how much of
The Royal Wedding we'll be watching. I'm not sure that
Mr Modern Country is terribly keen.
The Royal Wedding we'll be watching. I'm not sure that
Mr Modern Country is terribly keen.
But I will be glued to the screen come Friday.
Will you?
This is my favourite picture of all....
{Probably not the finest example of English-gentlemanly behaviour....
but who can deny that the man has good taste..}
but who can deny that the man has good taste..}
Now, please excuse me.
I need to go and finish off my
Cadbury's Creme Egg stash.

Yummylicious.

why resist at all? i've been burbling about the impending nuptials for weeks at least...and i can tell you that mr stuff and nonsense will not (will not) be watching along with me...unless i can bribe him with nosh...in fact, my obsession is such that i have been dvr-ing every royal related show all this week on bbca...sigh...i'm not proud, but i am in good company!
ReplyDeletealison
Yes, my dear Sarah! I'll be watching too!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that last photo is hilarious. I bet the man is staring at her shoes. Yes, that's it.
ReplyDeleteI will be watching as much as I can of the wedding. And I will be recording it so I can replay the highlights. Just a little bit obsessed!
Embarrasingly obsessed are the right words exactly! Why not though...my husband is not thrilled either so I have been watching everything in secret! I guess just us girls like fairy tales. :) Yes, I'll be watching!
ReplyDeleteLove this, Sarah! Thanks for the pictures--seems you get better pictures of Kate over there than we do over here. We keep seeing the same two or three photos over and over again.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be getting up early (4:00 a.m. here!) to watch the coverage. I have a group of my college daughter's friends coming over for tea, scones, and cucumber sandwiches. I've bought plastic tiaras for all of them and will decorate the house with cheesy wedding decorations. So, yes, I guess you could say I'm waaaay into it!
I've written my own Royal Wedding post that will be coming up later today. It's fun, so be sure to watch for it.
Have to say I will be with the guys on this one...Anti royal I am. But the Cadburys creme eggs...I'm with ya there.
ReplyDeleteI'll be staying up to watch and recording it so that my eight year old can watch the next day.
ReplyDeleteWedding fever is only just warmimg up here in Brisbane. There's no overt displays but the TV had just started showing some programmes to stir up interest to watch.
x
Oh my goodness, there is endless talk here about the wedding, I can't imagine what it must be like there. I may watch...I may not ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the last photo! Typical man.
It's nice to know you're into the Easter candy just like I am :)
~Tricia
She is classy... Not sure if I can't get up at 4:00 in the morning I'm going to try..
ReplyDeletePattie
What a great post Sarah! Kate has such a wonderful style... I will be recording the wedding and forcing my husband to watch with me over the weekend. :) Have fun watching!
ReplyDelete~Alison
The house is being powerwashed on Friday...
ReplyDeleteI'll be watching on the inside though!
I remember being glued to the television during Diana's wedding.
Oh!- the life of Royalty!
xoxo~Kathy @
Sweet Up-North Mornings...
She is a beautiful girl...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice afternoon
Mari
I will be there bottom on sofa - friend round for tea and cake. Husband is taking son out for the day - doing manly things no doubt. I love the whole thing, there is nothing like a royal wedding to stir the emotions.
ReplyDeleteAh...Kate the Great! I don't think I've seen a more stylish Princess, ever, or girl for that matter. Her wardrobe is perfect, and she really is or seems to be, a lovely person. I wish I had her body, and outfits!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll stop by Sarah, we're having a little giveaway, xxx tami
I can't wait, Sarah, although I will be losing my precious sleep! What a style icon she is!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I remember when I was a little girl waking up very early in the morning to watch Princess Diana get married. I'm not planning on waking up early this time, but I heard they are replaying it that evening, so I hope to catch it then. :) I love weddings!
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah!
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing? I don't see you for a while. I missed you!
Yes, I think she's gorgeous and simple at the same time. I like her and I love her outfits.
Have a great day, sweetie.
xo
Luciane at HomeBunch.com
I think she has great Modern Country Style. I hope the good weather you are enjoying in the UK lasts for the Wedding.
ReplyDeleteOOOhHHHHHH Cadbury Cream Eggs....... :) Sorry, I will wipe the drool off.
ReplyDeleteHer style is beautiful and simple. LOVE the outfit with the white t-shirt and skirt!! I really don't pay too close attention other than what I page through in the People magazine, but she is gorgeous. I don't think that we will be watching but you never know.
Have a beautiful day!!
Lovely photos, Canada is a Commonwealth country, as you probably know, so there are many people here who are all agog over this upcoming wedding. There are many who love British Royalty, I`m not one of them, curious yes. But I am certainly hoping that the press will leave these young people alone to live their lives in freedom from all that Lady Di had to go through.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
Hugs, Cindy
Her fashion style is fabulous! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI think the wedding it on at a weird time here, but I'm sure I'll catch clips when it's over!
sarah, you made me laugh with that comment about the last photo! and you are quite right she does have a modern country style in these photos! what an eye you have. :)
ReplyDeleteI love her style...wonder if will change for Aristocracy's sake?
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'll be watching or not...I didn't ditch school to watch Princess Di get married...
do love the Cadbury's though.
The post was cute too.
oh my I never realized how cute she was before. I love the way she dresses. I think I may even incorporate some of her fashion ideas into my own wardrobe...in a 20 years older, still need to lose 5 to 10 pounds, just a peon woman over here in America kind of a way.
ReplyDeleteWell, I WAS kind of wondering when you would break your silence on all of this royal wedding business! :-) I do think she has fabulous style too. Classic yet with modern touches...hmmmm...does remind me of someone else we all know and love here in blogland....
ReplyDelete:-)
Vanessa
It's just amazing the number of times I've mentioned the wedding in class!!! We were studying Middle Age littarature and it was always the easy comparison: Kate versus ladies of the Middle Age who didn't have any freedom... (I'm simplifying, but it worked to show the pupils how the world has changed!)
ReplyDeleteNot sure about watching the wedding on TV, but we are expecting rain as well, so maybe I'll be sitting on the sofa watching Kate's dress (I mean, it's the only thing really interesting?).
I love that picture where she wears a flowery blouse on jeans.
I'll have to tape it. I'm going to Remnants of the Past , an antique show, on Sat. and it's about 4 hours from me. It starts at 9 am, so oy, no watching at 3 am.
ReplyDeleteI'll say, Kate sure is a fashion plate. I can't wait to see the dress.
Have a good time and probably a good cry!
Leslie
Loved this post. I, too, am embarrassed fixated on this blessed event. I don't think I can count how many royal wedding-related links I've clicked on over the last few weeks. Can't wait to see the dress, the flowers, the everything. Being an armchair wedding analyst is fun :)! I wish I were in England to be able to really share in the excitement, impending thunderclouds or not.
ReplyDeleteO, I think she is the cutest thing to ever hit the Royal Family...by far! She is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo so much, I've just GOT to put it on my blog. Is it ok with you???
What a beautiful girl she is !!!...enjoy a happy week darling....love love Ria....xxx...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah, for the Kate-fest. She is truly adorable. I love this age of girls, as it is the same age as my adorable daughters. And girls this age are so fun to hang out with . . . they have learned a few things and are becoming wise.
ReplyDeleteI am watching the wedding, for sure.
Fondly,
Glenda
Haha! I'm glad you made a post about the royal wedding :) I actually am thinking of taking the day off work Friday to watch, I mean, it is a huge event that doesn't happen often, I wasn't born yet when Princess Di married Charles, so I really want to see this!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I will be up early...showered and shaved (a minor miracle for me on a bank hol) and plonked on the couch. Just love a royal wedding and it seems to be more fun being here in the U.K. The only unfortunate thing is the timing...it's a pity it couldn't start at say around 3ish...cause it will be unseemly to be seen drinking champas at 10 in the morning....or perhaps not...Robx
ReplyDeletep.s. my hubby will be on the golf course...ignoring the whole thing...still in a stink that he's had to give everyone at work a bank holiday...not in his budget!!
I'll be glued to the telly, too! Fun seeing your post of Kate ~ I've never seen most of these images! I'd kill to be as tall and slender as she is!!
ReplyDeleteHappy White Wednesday!
Big TX Hugs,
Stephanie

Kate Middleton is so beautiful she makes the perfect princess & the most stunning bride Im so excited about a fairy tale royal wedding im just wedding mad on my blog this week i cant help myself
ReplyDeleteWe are having a lovely English tea with fancy sandwiches, cake and scones whilst we watch the wedding unfold....
ReplyDeleteS x
I will probably catch the after shots of the wedding that will be on tv for months to come Sarah.
ReplyDeleteKate is full of class just like Princess Di was, to me. She is absolutely beautiful. I think Princess Di would be proud of her son.
Thanks for posting these photos, I have never seen them before.
Hi Sarah!
ReplyDeleteCan the girl take a bad photo?
I think not.
What a beauty!
I am keeping my high school daughter home from school for the wedding. We plan to set the alarm clocks for 3:45am on Friday and we will be in our proper flannel jammies, sipping tea and sharing scones and crumpets (still have to find out what a crumpet is...) so we won't miss a beat this Friday morning.
Can't wait to see THE dress!!!
xoxox
Alison
I'm not too bothered about watching it, but I will have a sneak at what her dress is like! x
ReplyDeleteOoh i actually cant wait!!
ReplyDeletehilarious! love this post!!
ReplyDeletehttp://ladulcivida.blogspot.com/
That last photo certainly made me giggle. I am such a Kate fan and sooooooo excited for Friday. You would think I know the lovely couple :) My sister and I will be up all night watching from LA.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to set the dvr to record it, but I won't be getting up that early to watch it live. I actually remember seeing Charles' and Diana's wedding on TV...even though I was so, so young ;)
ReplyDeleteKate is a beautiful girl!
I will be watching. It's very exciting and she is just cute as a button@
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetpea!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a doll! There is definitely a lot of hype here, so I can imagine it's two fold in England. I am looking forward to watching it. Don't we all want to see her dress?
Have a lovely night!
XOXO
~M
I will be glued... gxo
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Sarah you are so cute!
ReplyDeleteDid you say Cadbury creme eggs?
Yum, yum!
Ive had alot of chocolate lately..:)
This was such a cute post!
I think they are an adorable couple..and just so free-spirited!
I love her style and I just realized after seeing this post that she looks an awful lot like someone I know lol
Ive missed you!
Deborah xoo
i get to watch with my mama who loves ALL THINGS ROYAL so it's extra extra special. plus. plus. i'm with her in glorious arizona! i'll be raising a glass to you, my friend.
ReplyDeletemichele
Oh Sarah, you are so adorable! I love Kate's look too, and will definitely be watching the ceremonies!
ReplyDeleteNot even my country, and still, I am enthralled! Who can possibly resist such fancy???? And why should we?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting more excited the closer it gets too, Sarah. I'm in Australia at the moment, but fortunately it will all be broadcast here in Oz, where me, mum and sis intend to have our own mini-party.
ReplyDeleteI love the pics you chose, definitely modern country style clothing - Melissa xx
have you seen the william and kate movie on mylifetime.com?! its great:)
ReplyDeleteI watched Lady Di get married back in 1981 and plan on watching the event coverage starting at 4am on Friday - how often do you see a princess wedding? :)
ReplyDeleteI think all the
ReplyDeletepositive energy
directed toward
this bit of history
is really uplifting!
Of course, I've heard
a few {!} in the U.K.
want to do away with
the royal establishment,
but since we don't
have it here in the U.S.,
I'm hoping that doesn't
happen and we can continue
to enjoy it vicariously
through our friends across
the Atlantic : ) Now,
please roll me one of
those Cadbury eggs, please....?
xx Suzanne
I love her style. I haven't decided if I'll be watching or not-I'm leaning toward yes. The last photo was excellent...thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteAnn-Marie
I can't wait to see the wedding! She's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love Kate and creme eggs too! I made myself some strawberry scones to stick in the freezer as we'll be out of town until late Friday evening...I plan on sleeping on the trip home so I can stay up all night and watch the BIG WEDDING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be watching the wedding! Wouldn't miss it! I wish Princess Di were here to see it...she would be so proud of Prince William. And she could give Kate wonderful advice.
Thanks for sharing the fabulous photos of the princess to be. Love it!
Hugs,
Sonya
Oh yes, dear Sarah. I'll be watching (despite my australian republican position). Who can resist? I think I'll be watching the Chaser version - which is a satirical coverage rather than the 'straight' coverage though!
ReplyDeleteYou are a funny girl - I didn't know there were Cadbury creme egg fanciers out there. There's something not quite right about their molten insides mimicking raw egg. no!
Yep, just crazy about her too. What are you doing for the big day? XOL
ReplyDeleteYes, Sarah, we will all be sat around the television on Friday...
ReplyDeleteI'm off to search for my bunting now...
Fingers crossed for some lovely weather!...
Susan x
Oh you're not the only one who is a tad obsessed with our Kate, I think she is lovely with a great sense of style, and will certainly be watching.. can't wait! x
ReplyDeleteYes, the closer the wedding day gets, the more I'm getting interested. I dare say I will see some of it anyway.
ReplyDeletex
I too am looking forward to the wedding. I haven't admitted it openly but I am considering getting up early to watch it. Hmmm...may have to call in sick that day! Also I'm looking forward to the newlyweds when they visit Ottawa on July 1, Canada Day.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, Kate the Great! She has fabulous style and wears clothes very well not to mention how photogenic she is. I am so impressed with her composure - I think she has had a few years to get used to her strange way of life. Best wishes to her and I can't wait to see the wedding!! I have to work, so I'm hoping I will see it on youtube or something. :))
ReplyDeleteOh, isn't she just ridiculously gorgeous? Perfect modern princeess indeed!
ReplyDeleteLove that last picture! Really made me giggle.
I will probably only have it on to see the dress and the fuss, would be rude not to ;) xxx
My God, she is beautiful. I am embarrassed to admit that I'm pretty excited for the whole thing, too. I have my DVR set to record, and the BBC America coverage starts at 3am and goes for like 12 or 14 hours... ridiculous! I won't be watching the whole thing, but I will be watching the important parts.
ReplyDeleteheehee that last pic was too funny :) I have just watched THE wedding while eating two cad cream eggs :) isn't blogging wonderful at showing us our similarities :) le xox
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such a beautiful information.I hope you will keep sharing such wonderful information in future. It is amazing and wonderful to visit your site.
