Hey there, sweets,
We're having the most wonderful Jubilee weekend.
Yesterday, we went to a street party.
{The Queen said she would have been there
but was having a slightly busy day.}
Singing 'Rule Brittania',
waving our Union Jack flags,
sheltering under pushed-together gazebos from the steady drizzle,
whilst children played,
and grown-ups laughed,
encapsulates all that I completely adore about being British.
Today, I'm over at the Relics of Witney blog, talking about their year-round Jubilee ethos. If you're yearning for a shop that listens to their customers, gives fantastic and individual advice, stocks a huge array of home-related delights and is an absolute pleasure to lazily browse around then come and have a look..
I'll be posting over there on the first of every month.
Wow!! The streets look so grand dressed up in the flags! Must have been a spectacular day to celebrate with a street party!! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you! We knew some people that lived in England for a while, and they said Brits thought Americans odd/amusing for how much much we loved our country. Didn't make sense to me considering how much Brits seem to like being British! Your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI would love to be in England right now during the Jubilee. I love all the colorful pictures I have been seeing from there.
ReplyDeleteI going to browse your blog now - will follow you as well.

How wonderfully festive indeed ! Please give a curtsey to the Queen for me ... such a grand and lovely Lady. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the British way of showing admiration for our country is by generally talking over the weather...and then revealing their full patriotic colours on occasions like this!!

So disheartening that it rained yesterday -- on the flotilla (the poor Queen in all that damp and wet! She's a trooper though!), on the street parties...but what a sense of pride and community and togetherness in celebration. Something we'll never see again in our lifetime.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly the year to celebrate being British. Shame about the weather, but even that is being typically British.
ReplyDeleteThe sense of occasion was mesmorising. It's something even my kids are unlikely to see in their lifetime again. A special time indeed. :)
Love that umbrella!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI was watching BBC America all day yesterday, wishing I was British, and cheering for the Queen. : )
ReplyDeleteIt must be a great weekend...we enjoy it too...now the concert is on tv....it is great !!..love Ria....xxx..
ReplyDeleteShe really is a pretty 'queen' even if she is in her 80's... her eyes look gentle and kind.
ReplyDeleteMy husband treasures his family pictures from the carraige ride the Queen took to her coronation.
ReplyDeleteGod save your Queen and grant her many more happy years.
We were all British this weekend. Even if far-away California.
Beautiful patriotic pics Sarah - I couldn't agree more - I love Britain for the same reason...take care and have a lovely week. sharon
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures, thanks for the post. See you on the first at the Relic blog.

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, What a fantastic celebration been watching here in Aust. Everyone so happy and banding together. Love it !!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, Here in California we've been enjoying the Queen's Jubilee on television. It's been a fantastic celebration and wonderful to watch.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the Queen and all her people ... including, sweet Sarah, on 60 years of faithful service.
ReplyDeleteIt's times like this that make me glad that we are (Canada) a Commonwealth country. The queen is so beautiful and elegant.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Hi Sarah
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant weekend. It was lovely to see so many people on the streets of London cheering for our Queen.
Also, thanks for the heads up on Relics of Witney. Would you believe I only live 30mins down the road from them, so I will certainly be paying them a visit.
Love Marge x
Thanks so much for posting this! It makes me feel closer to "home". Although I have lived in Canada my whole life (born in Kettering , UK) I was brought up very British. So I always feel a slight pang when I see such wonderful images. Maybe that's why I love Red White and Blue so much!!
ReplyDeleteThe Sovereign said she would have been there
ReplyDeletebe that as it may, was having a somewhat bustling day.
