Of all the photo-wizardry that I've seen over the Jubilee
this of the Queen and Prince Philip is by far and away my favourite.
In fact, it made me cry.
{probably the pregnancy hormones talking...but still...}
I find long marriages the most romantic thing in the world.
Consistent, steadfast, committed love.
Faithfulness during temptation.
Devotion through hard times.
Triumph in the face of adversity.
What could be more swoon-worthy?
Incredible photos! And how gorgeous did they look when they were younger? Now the look that passes between them is one that speaks volumes about the life that they have written together.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of my favourites as well...seeing that while their bodies have changed as they have matured into these golden years...what they have has remained constant. I do believe she still looks at him adoringly as she first did when they met when she was 13.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely...I hadn't seen this. She must have really missed him yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSweet photos. She’s such a beautiful woman. Robert’s at home in OXON and I am in Vancouver right now, so we watched the Thames procession together, while talking about it over the phone. Isn’t satellite technology fantastic? I was sorry to learn that Prince Philip was back in the hospital and wasn’t surprised after the 4 hours in that terrible weather. Looking forward to being back in E. Next month. By the way, we live just outside Whitney. I’ll have to take a closer look at the Relics shop.
ReplyDeletePriceless! A picture is truly worth a thousand words.
ReplyDeleteSuch touching photos of a couple whose lives have been anything but easy and yet they make it look that way!
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping focus on the life lesson from which all of us can learn. I will share it with others (are those your words or does credit go elsewhere?)...
Take care
Cathy
P.S. All the best, Sarah, in your continued patient wait for your wee sweetling to arrive!
How lovely! Brings a tear to my eye and I can't even blame pregnancy hormones!
ReplyDeletePaula x
p.s. Good on you for posting during the jubilee celebrations AND whilst pregnant - I have only lifted my finger to grab another cucumber sandwich or a buttered scone for the past week - lol!
Oh, I just *love* this photo :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more swoon worthy is to have such love in your own life. <3
ReplyDeleteI just sent this image to my parents, who are married nearly 60 years!

Though their faces have grown old their eyes still speak of tenderness and devotion to one another. When one finds such lasting love it becomes more priceless than the largest emerald, the most flawless diamond or the rarest pearl.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! They were quite a dashing pair when they were young. She still looks at him so fondly.
ReplyDeleteThey are my words...but not my picture! I don't even know where the credit lies, I'm afraid!
ReplyDeleteSarahx
How precious! I love these photos.
ReplyDeleteEndearing LOVE!
I don't think it's the hormones.
Well, at my age... it could be.
thanks for sharing these pictures.
Pat

ReplyDeleteThis really is a touching set of photos. So nice that you posted them!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Sarah, these photos are so beautful! All the very best to you and your family in the coming months :-)

So very sweet. And so sad that he missed some of the events. But I love these photos!
ReplyDeleteThese priceless pictures capture brilliantly your powerful words, Sarah! I do believe that the loving lasting marriage is not only the most romantic thing in the world but also the most liberating. Thank you for this moving post !
ReplyDeleteIt was fun watching on tv here. Love the comparison pictures. So sweet. Hope he is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteLove this! They are such a wonderful couple! I am sure she missed him by her side.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling great!
Elizabeth
I just noticed is she wearing the same exact broach on her lapel jacket?
ReplyDeleteI noticed the brooch too... I'd say there's every chance it's the same one ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is so precious. I saw her chin wobble slightly during Prince Charles' after the Jubilee concert and my heart went out to her. They are clearly very devoted to one another.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, I LOVE the photos as well; these are two lucky people! ;-))
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, that is a precious set of photos. I love them!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI adore this photo of Queen Elizabeth and Philip!!! The Queen's speech to Parliment made me, once again, realize what a special lady she is to England!...and our world! "Mr. Ed" and I just celebrated 43 years of marriage...and the romance lives on...
Fondly,
Pat
Precious and
ReplyDeleteYES,
