The colour I chose for the bedside table was
Farrow and Ball Pigeon.
Picking a colour for the bedside table transformation
was a tricky bunny.

I scoured paint sample after paint sample to find the perfect shade. But as soon as I saw Farrow and Ball's Pigeon, held up against our bedroom colour (Farrow and Ball Light Blue) and our mahogany bed, I knew it was the one.

The paint cooed to me.
{Pigeon? Cooing? Geddit?!}
And the siren-like call of Farrow and Ball paints is pretty hard to resist.

I hope these Case Study paint posts will save you time when looking for paints, showing a variety of pictures that show Farrow and Ball Pigeon in different lights.
Although, I have to say it wasn't wholly unenjoyable....
I rather like all that fussing and sighing over paint...

The colour of Pigeon changes from very grey with a tinsiest hint of bluey-green to a grey-green in stronger sun.
Very much like a pigeon......?!
I'll get back to you on that one...

It's a beautiful colour that definitely leans towards the greener end of grey.....
Ignore it at your peril...

Good colour. Unattractive name. (I hate pigeons!) xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the color! Thanks for sharing. It makes life so much easier when you can really see the color in the pictures. Great pick.

That is just one of those perfect colours, isn't it? The bedside table looks gorgeous. I still can't find one I like for our bedroom! Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Color Sarah. I've been toying with the idea of adding a touch of grey in my guest room.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of gray Sarah, I too am surprised at the name, but it is a beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteOOOh, I love the colour. I'll bear that in mind next time I paint some furniture. They seem to have stopped making the oil based eggshell though. I never find the water based paints as hard wearing. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteOh sigh. Such a perfect color. And there's one of those hearts I love! That seems like a great go-to color. I've been in need of one of those lately.
ReplyDeleteYou can stop by ANY time! Just a little hop, skip, jump across the ocean, no big deal :)
ReplyDelete~ Thanks for stopping by!
Such pretty shades of color - yes, this pigeon one is adorable, so soft and subtle!
ReplyDeleteThis paint color is like all of my favorite shades in one. I have found myself really drawn to greys this year. It's like the new neutral. They just speak soft. Thanks for sharing what you used...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Dear Sarah, I love your choice of paint colour and am not surprised that it should be a Farrow and Ball paint. Their paints are so wonderfully chalky and have a depth of colour that is, I think, very difficult to beat. The only other paints that come close are those by Zoffany I find.
ReplyDeleteThe bedside table is charming and so beautifully practical.
Such a gorgeous color! I love it when one color can transform in different rooms. Great pics too!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty...I see why you picked it :)
ReplyDeleteLovely hues. We just had our garden door replaced and I thought I could find that soft sage green on the cheap. Result? Mint green. Say no more. Howl!!xxx
ReplyDeletePretty, Pretty color!
ReplyDeleteLove It!
Thanks for the paint info Sarah!! ;) It is always so tricky finding the right colour!! Hugs~ Rachel
ReplyDeleteI am loving the grays!! I have a green with lots of gray on my kitchen cabinets and a very pale gray in the master bath called Teardrop {I love the names they give paints!}. Pigeon is a wonderful color for a nightstand!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! You have a great blog, Sarah!
Happy weekend!
XO,
Jane

ReplyDeleteI found you today while blog hopping and enjoyed learning all about your choice of color.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic that you include the paint names. I do too, and think it's great to share. I love what you did, and wish I could get this brand Oz. x
ReplyDeleteGreat color! I just recently became a fan of Farrow and Ball paint and I love it. I love paint posts too!!! ~Deb~

I really like this color! I'm a huge fan of any subdued color that creates a calm, serene environment in the home. Well done on the bedside table, thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteTake care,

Beautiful !! You have such a great eye for finding the perfect paint color !! The nightstand color works beautifully in your gorgeous bedroom, too. Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by my dining room re-do and your kind words, which I appreciate so much. I'm truly flattered that you wanna tag along for my decorating misadventures. lol Have a great day, *Becca*
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I Love the color you chose!! So neat how it changes so much in the light and shadows and seems to have a range of colors~ It looks so charming on your bedside table & really does go well with your wall color- I love that one too!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, may I say that you are a complete and utter loon (in the nicest possible sense OF COURSE!).
ReplyDeleteLoved your posts about vintage suitcases btw. I'm afraid that I'm going to copy you shamelessly and will definitely be dragging Mr J and P's family airloom suitcase from the loft and filling it with my vintage woollen blankies and crocheted granny blankies. Sooooo excited!!
Looking forward to your book review - the book looks v interesting.
Me again. What's an airloom? I meant heirloom of course. I'll go now.......
ReplyDeleteReally nice gray! We just painted the dining room Valspar Aspen Gray (we are renting while we sell our house so I didn't want to spend a bunch of money), it is actually quite lovely, grays are hard! XX!
ReplyDeleteVisit my blog - I think you'll find a fun surprise today ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous colour. I wish we had farrow and ball paints here. I have my eye on those new Jo Malone candles that are in farrow and ball votives...maybe for my birthday next month!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha.
Great idea, a paint post. I am thinking of changing some of the colors in my condo. Will have to check out your other paint posts. I am leaning towards gray.
ReplyDeleteI love a paint that changes in the light! I ordered the Farrow and Ball paint chart and it just arrived yesterday. Too bad I'll never pay that much for a gallon of paint! I wonder if Home Depot can color-match it successfully.
ReplyDeleteDid you wash the paint on the shiplap wall? I was thinking about doing a pigeon shiplap wall but this looks a little like a wash maybe? Thanks!
