And it is utterly incredible, isn't it?

I was so impressed with all the people that guessed correctly on Friday when I shared a copycat kitchen.
Round of applause for the film buffs!
I've gathered up all the pictures that I could possibly find of The Kitchen so that we can ♥swoon♥our little hearts out together today.
Group swoon....?
It's all so elegantly understated.
I love the matte soapstone worktops and the white Shaker units.
The subway tiles and the hardware.
The inset sink and the pendant lights.
The books in the island and the moulded top-cabinet supports.
The taps and the windows.
La-la-love.
Yeah, I'll take it. Thanks very much....
Now, about yesterday's garden post, I've been thinking of throwing an English Garden Party for people to link up their gardens or flower-related ideas.
I'm just desperate for Spring to come and I thought it would be such a perfect way to herald it's coming.
I'm just putting the finishing touches to the button.
Speaking of finishing touches, I've just completed the most lovely Valentine's gift idea.

How can I come to a garden party with only snow pictures? I wasn't blogging last summer so I have no pretty pictures. I do have some rose pictures that I took at the Park of Roses, but it's not my garden ~ will that count? I can always look at everyone elses pictures and be inspired. I think it's a great idea, but you must throw another garden party in May when it's actually spring here.

Sarah, you're a mind-reader! Though I'll be trying my first cut flower garden this year, I was just thinking about doing a post of flower photos for inspiration in the coming week. I too am SO. OVER. all the drab winter brown around here and can't wait for pops of color to appear. I'll get working to find photos so I can join the partay!

And I think one of the reasons why I like to watch Brothers & Sisters is I get the chance to gaze at the kitchen & all the bits and pieces in it and imagine sitting around that big bench sharing a glass of wine and a chat with Sally Field, umm...I mean Nora Walker!!

Dear Sarah, Oh dear...all those acres of white make me feel quite nervous. Even her eggs are white!! As for the refridgerators....I have no idea what could possibly require so much space as mine seem to only contain a light bulb for most of the time!!!

ReplyDeleteThat is definitely one of the all time favorites for a lot of people. So many people have used it to pattern theirs after. I guess mine has a few of the elements that I see here, maybe I had it in mind and didn't even realize it when I was designing it in '09.
I'm sorry you are so desperate for Spring, I would enjoy seeing what others had to offer in gardens, though, in a linky party.

ReplyDeleteYears ago, as I watched this movie for the first time, I kept watching the delicious set design and decoration ... the characters and the plot were definitely secondary. I'm not sure that was a good thing for the movie at the time, but it sure has made it live on long after we would normally have forgotten it, hasn't it? What we love about this kitchen most, I believe, is the classic elegance and beautiful details and proportion ... nothing trendy or date-specific ... just wonderful design and materials. What a shame to have this on a movie sound stage.

I think that kitchen is as big as my whole first floor! It's gorgeous, but I'd like a maid to go with it, please. I'd spend all my time cleaning it!

Thanks for the memories - I wonder if that kitchen will have that 2000 look some day. Or is it timeless? Time will tell. I just realized that you are in the Cotswolds which is one of our favorite places = we rented a house in Chipping Camden a few years ago and I didn't want to leave.

Well... I can't say enough about this kitchen and movie! It's my favorite of all and I'd love to have a house just like that.. yep, the whole house! I've made a post about it before. I dream about this kitchen. This movie was made about 12 years ago (something like that) and it still looks amazing! This is what a classic design does... you can love it for ages!

Love that kitchen!! Its one of my all-time favorite movie homes too. Did you know the director of Somethings Gotta give also did the Father of the Bride, The Holiday (love that English cottage!) and also Its Complicated (another fab kitchen! Love that open design)?? Obviously she has AMAZING taste in homes and set design.....I think James Radin did her last 2 or 3 movies. *LOVE*

ReplyDeleteused this kitchen as inspiration when designing mine 4 yrs ago but opted for sandy quartz countertops instead of soapstone. i love using black but too much can be austere (for me).

In fact, I love the whole house, those windows in her bedroom that her desk faces, who couldn't work (blog) with that view! Hello Sarah-I remember this kitchen from the movie. It is absolutely delicious. I have a love of kitchens and this one certainly fits the bill. Wouldn't it be fun to have a kitchen like this in our own homes? I would never see the rest of the house!
