Bunting In Girls' Bedrooms

There's something so cheerful and upbeat about bunting...that's why I love it.

And that's also why, at times, {shock, horror} I also loathe it.

Am I the only one in the world?

Just because it's shaped like bunting, doesn't automatically make it beautiful. I find can look gaudy and brash if it's not quite right, which, I know, has it's place, but it's not what I wanted in our girls bedroom.

I hunted high and low for exactly the right bunting for the bedroom.
Gentle, sweet, feminine and classic was what I was after.

Did I find the bunting of my dreams?

Ooooh, yes!!

Will I be sharing on Friday?
You betcha...!

  1. Is it Friday already? ;)
I'm with you in love/loathing bunting. But then I usually drive people crazy because I have that for every decor (and not ony) aspect.
Looking forward to see what you came up with.
    Yours,
    Teresa

P.S. For my non-girly daughter's brithday I wanted to do one with her name. I craved it because she never wants to decor... to the point of saying "Mum put some paper plates and cups and t's done" gasp gasp :(... well, the bunting: I wanted to do one with her name to put over the dessert buffet and when I suggested she said "Mum, who's coming already know my name"... cruel girl ;). I won but I guess she's more the loather type.

  4. I've got the love/hates for it too. I really don't like the fakey stuff that you see in 'country' livingrooms but if it is just this side of shabby I'm a happy girl.

  5. Sarah,
I think what you call bunting...I call pendants. Those triangular strips hanging from a line? We use to get them for our favorite sports teams and vacationing places...I'll be back to see what you're doing! I'm quite intriqued, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,

  9. I love/ hate bunting, too, and am always thinking about making some from the beautiful off-cuts I've been given... but then I remind myself that I haven't got a creative bone in my body and I make tea instead :-)

  12. I'm not a loather - bunting is good in small doses but it must be tasteful! Looking forward to see what you've chosen. I know it'll be lovely :-)

  14. Can't wait to see what you've found. Will popping back in later on today to have a look. I'm in the middle of making some bunting for my little one's room and am aiming for something soft, pretty and sweet too... not gaudy :)

  15. Guady and Brash?...surely not.
Unless you are talking about the cheap plastic ones tied to a helium balloon announcing the next years cars are show room ready and all last years cars have been marked down to unbelievable prices?
you've seen those right? ...I love all of these inspiring photos.
