How does French Gray cope with exteriors?
{For more delicious and tempting information, see this list of Colour Studies...
The answer is that, for exterior paint shades, particularly ones such as French Gray, which have such a potential range, you have to be even more careful (sorry to be the bearer of bad news).

The range of light possibilities varies even more on the average house exterior or garden.

That's to say, the gap between the shadiest spots of your garden, and where it receives full, unadulterated sunlight is vast compared to inside your home.

Put Farrow and Ball French Gray in a sunny part of the garden, and it can seem washed out and pallid.....

It was a Farrow and Ball research on the Internet that draw me to your blog years ago. The colour studies you do are brilliant and I know how much work there's behind these posts as it's sometimes difficult to find the perfect pictures. I had a hard time looking for some when I was looking for the perfect colour for my kitchen walls.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. It's so helpful as we are choosing F&B colours for our house that is being built. We're having to decide window frame colours, kitchen units and walls. Hardwick white and French grey are top contenders for our North facing kitchen and we plan to use shaded and shadow white on the walls. But I love pigeon too! Too many gorgeous choices but again, stumbling across your blog has been wonderful, so thank you.
