Farrow and Ball Light Blue |
I've had so many enquiries about our Master Bedroom wall colour that I thought I'd give the answer with it's very own post, featuring our bedroom and also other rooms I've sourced to give you the very best idea of how Farrow and Ball Light Blue plays out on the walls.
I'm guessing this is in full sun because the Farrow and Ball Light Blue door looks so pale....

I always look at as many images as I can (isn't the Internet great?!) when choosing a potential paint colour to give me as little chance as possible of a nasty surprise. It's astonishing how much some colours change from the paint chart to the wall, or even from room to room. These images show how Farrow and Ball Light Blue really looks...
Farrow and Ball Light Blue |
The colour I chose for the Master Bedroom is.............drum roll, if you please.......Farrow and Ball's Light Blue. I feel a short pause for applause would be appropriate here....
Farrow and Ball Light Blue |
The names of Farrow and Ball's paints sometimes need to be taken with a pinch of salt and this is certainly a case in point. Yes, it is Light and yes, it does have a hint of Blue but is has SO much grey in it, as well as a touch of green that calling the colour plain old Light Blue just doesn't do it justice.

There are plenty of images out there but some seem to have distorted the colour somehow so I haven't included those. The images I've found for you are the ones that I felt show the best representation of how Farrow and Ball Light Blue actually looks to the naked eye.
Ooooh, I said naked.
Farrow and Ball Light Blue bedroom |
A small tester square gives no hint of how beautiful this colour is. Farrow and Ball Light Blue builds up in intensity in the corners of a room, yet reflects the light beautifully when given a chance.
Farrow and Ball Light Blue |
Not many colours can be cool and restful yet warm and cosy at the same time but this one can. I think it's safe to say that Farrow and Ball Light Blue my all time number one supremo favouritest colour evah!

So.....do you like it?
Question for today:
What is your favourite paint colour? I think colour choice says so much about people so I'd love to hear.....

My favourite colour is pale olive green. So what does that say about me?!
ReplyDeleteHi! I promised yesterday to visit your blog-and here I am! Probably you already know that interior decoration is close to my heart too. Earlier I bought interior design magazines, nowadays I try to buy books.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful project going on. The bedroom looks absolutely great! Your blog looks so interesting! Oh- the color. In interior decoration? There is not only l.gray; I like the colors of wine, and naturally white too!
I'm a lover of a harvest yellow. I try to stray, but I always come back. I have three rooms in my home all in various harvest yellows - I might be adddicted!I love the light grey blues that I see around, but I just can't seem to pull the trigger. liz
ReplyDeleteI love the color that you chose for you room! It is so light and airy and yet has a warm feeling to it with various tints to it! Right now I am a little addicted to the color Wood Smoke! :) However, your color is similar to the color that is on the bottom portion of my cabinets in the kitchen. It is called Tranquil Pond.
ReplyDeleteLove you room!!!
What beautiful pictures. That kitchen sink is to die for. I love those sinks. They just are beautiful. Thank you for your comment. And yes I do live such a glamorous life..ha ha...just kidding I guess it depends on your definition of glamorous. I do love Vegas though. There is a lot you can do here for not very little if you research it.Hope you are having a wonderful day:>

I used to be a fan of very bright, bold colours like turquoise or a deep pink. At the moment, I'm liking more muted colours - pale greyish greens are nice, or just plain and simple white!
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company! The author of Farrow & Ball Living with Colour has used light blue in all her homes and she praises its subtlety. There is an interview with Ros on our blog. http://rylandpeters.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous color! Yikes! I just looked at their website and in American dollars a gallon is $125!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite paint colors is Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware; it is actually somewhat similar to Light Blue and changes dramatically in different light.
Gorgeous bathroom, it definitely looks relaxing and tranquil. I can never choose just one colour. For inside my house though walls it would be white mainly. I do love a restful blue-grey for the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteAlthough sometimes a sleek taupe works well... I'll stop now. :)
Okay,
ReplyDeleteI am drooling over this paint color...this is now my favorite! I was in love with Silver Sage by Benjamin Moore...this is very similar!! LOVE LOVE it!
Lisa
that is an awesome color....and isn't it wild how drastic a color can change in different lights?
ReplyDeleteLove the color you chose. It comes out perfect in every picture, especially the ones that look gray. I personally love green, yellow and red, but since they're really hard to get the right tone in paint, I use them for accents instead.
ReplyDeleteYour master bedroom is beautiful.
I love this color!!!! It is gorgeous. I was thinking gray for our eventual master bedroom renovation...but maybe light blue???
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower, as I love the modern country style you have. :)

Thank you and have a great weekend!
For me, it'd probably be grey. (Sounds boring, I know... but I'm going through a grey phase and that's my favorite color right now!) But I'd have to say that I really enjoy a pale shade of just about any color...
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I'm a new follower from Sassy Sites! I love your blog!

I LOVE that color in your bedroom! Is it the same color or just closely similar to the one on the sink cabinets? I love that color! I have been considering painting our bedroom a different blue/gray/silvery too. Thanks for joining Feathered Nest Friday! Love the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteLove that color! My fave is white for sure!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you made a great decision with your paint color. It's pretty, fresh, and elegant. There are so many colors that are so similar that it's hard to pick the right one. I can't say that I have a favorite paint color...I guess it depends on my mood and the room. Every color I pick for my house takes a lot of research, contemplating, and annoying my husband!
ReplyDeleteFarrow and Ball has beautiful paint colors. Your bedroom looks great with this paint color. Great choice!
ReplyDelete"Ooh, I said naked." LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful. I love your paint choices :)
The color is beautiful and your pictures are great. I love the kitchen sink!
ReplyDeleteThe color would be wonderful in my living room but, my favorite - favorite picture in your post? The naked door. I love the look of naked wood against a painted backdrop. Delicious!

First time poster here at your blog --- please keep it up! I'm enjoying the reads.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this colour. Our kitchen cabinetry is a very similar shade and I also have one of those butlers sinks too! Great post!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha.
LOVE this color!
ReplyDeleteMy faves are anything grey/blue so this is perfect for me!
I adore colors in the "sea glass" family, and this certainly evokes that. My absolute favorite are the blueish green/greys, like Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage. I have a similar color in my bathroom and it is sooooo relaxing! This one by Farrow and Ball is beautiful, but it's difficult to source it where I live. What I wouldn't give for a fan deck of F&B colors to fantasize about!
ReplyDeleteI do love this post! Gorgeous color.
ReplyDeleteConfession: I don't have a favorite paint color. Picking just one would be unfair to all my other favorites. Smile.

Hi there,I have just discovered you have featured a photograph of the front door to Church Cottage here in Wyke Regis,
ReplyDeleteWorking from a background in fine art and having a good understanding of colour theory I helped client on colour selection.
This colour was chosen by my client as it fitted into the period of her listed property.
She was very unsure if she liked it or not as it is very pale.
But upon completion she agreed with me that it is a strikng colour against the Chickerell brick stock. Thanks for featuring it on your site!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteAm a bit late but found this post as I am looking to paint our hall in F&B Light Blue...am a bit concerned though because it looks green in our hall tester square. Will it get more blue or grey as I paint more of it? The hall doesn't get much sun. Anything you might be able to say about the green-ness would be helpful! :-)
Thanks,
Tip
PS LOVE the colour posts. Anything you might need to know about F&B All White just ask. It is an awesome white! Love love love F&B paints.
Hi Tip,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely comment on Modern Country Style - it's LOVELY to know that you're finding the Farrow and Ball posts so helpful.
Light Blue will get more BLUE as you paint it on. It has definitely got a greenish tinge in some lights, and a greyish tinge in others - BUT not ever enough that it stops blue being the dominant colour.
Go for it!! I STILL adore it in our Master bedroom! It's subtle, gentle and restful. Gorgeous!

Hey there,
ReplyDeleteWe have used F&B Light Blue on our master bedroom wall, but we are really struggling to choose a colour that contrasts or compliments it for our en suite.
I want to steer away from similar shades so maybe thinking of going 'mouse' or something fawn-y?
Nick
The Farrow and Ball Light Blue is beautiful in your bedroom! It is such an interesting color, and I agree, it is so much more than a light blue. I'd love to feature this on my paint color blog. You wouldn't have to do a thing, just let me know if you're interested!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI'd like to first of all say your home looks beautiful! We have just moved to the country from London and are therefore changing our interior style from white and bright to more muted tones. We have chosen to paint our living room in F&B Light Blue (with your help, thank you) and I was just wondering if you recommend using the Estate Emulsion or the Modern Emulsion? We bought a sample of a different colour in the Estate but it seems a bit too chalky for a big room. What do you think?
Thank you!
Thank you! I'm so pleased I've been able to help. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think the size of the room will be hugely influenced by whether you choose Estate or Modern emulsion . Both are very flat indeed.
A bigger consideration should definitely be how much wear and tear the room will get.
I started off using Estate (the Light Blue in our bedroom is Estate emulsion) but now, three children later, have switched firmly to Modern emulsion which is much more wipe-able!
Good luck!
Sarahx
Hi. Pls can I ask what is the White you've chosen for the ceilings? I am going a bit nutty choosing my colours ! thanks a lot !
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the light blue too and wanting to use this for a new loft conversion, Master bedroom. Like wanderlust I'd love to know what 'white' you chose for the ceilings too! Thanks x

ReplyDeleteMy daughter's bedroom is painted Farrow and Ball Light Blue. It's a small boxy room that gets northern light, and I needed something that would tie in the combination of mid-century modern and boho stuff in there, something neutral but not white. This one works beautifully, though I often feel the paint is outshining the rest of the decor! But having lived with it for five years I would feel very safe and happy using it in other settings as well. It would look great in a bathroom, in a more formal bedroom, even a study or as exterior trim. It's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteAwe-inspiring bequest! Your site is actually attention-grabbing.
