I don't know if you've ever gone out feeling that you've scrubbed up well until you got back and realised you really did not.
Last night was one of those nights.
I was chatting with some lovelies over on Facebook .....
{and what do you mean you've not joined me over there yet? Just clickety-click on this here 'Like' button so as not to miss out on any more awesome chitchat...
Aaaah, isn't that so much better?!}
....about how I was going to a good friend of mine's birthday do. It was a dressing-up occasion....which normally you can't drag me away from.
But, now 32 weeks pregnant, I'm getting biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig, girlies. There's no getting round it. I tried on what seemed like a hundred different dresses, all of which made me feel utterly enormous, until I came across one tucked at the back of my wardrobe that I'd not worn before.
It was made of gorgeous, stretchy, sparkly material that seemed to cling in all the good places, and skim over the not-so-good.
Cue a very frolicsome night indeed....
until I got home and my handsome husband pointed out that somehow the afore-mentioned sparkles had transferred themselves in quantity from my dress to my face.
Not like this..... |
Mmmmmm........not so good.
...more like this!! |
So, I would like to reassure you all that I'm not embracing my eleven-year-old self make-up-wise.
{What? Didn't you put glitter-gel on your face too?}
It was just a very unfortunate incident.....
Please tell me I'm not alone
in my going-out embarrassments....
Have you been there too?

I wore a red sweater once for the first time. I went to drop off my vehicle for an oil change. The guy working there got in it to pull it up and check out a couple of things. I was standing toward the back of my car when he got out. His entire back was covered in red stuff from my sweater! I mean ENTIRE back of his white shirt! I was so embarrassed!
Maybe our rule should be to try on new clothes for a day at home before venturing out on a helpless public!!!

Too many sartorial mishaps to want to remember.
Although a jaunt down the entire length of London's Kings Rd, with a 'just incase' tampax poking nattily from my jeans' back pocket still makes me groan!! It just never quite made it to my handbag. So cool. not.
Aah, face/body glitter. Such a fan at about 14. Along with electric blue mascara - I must have looked like an extra on a David Bowie video. I remember thinking pub owners would think I looked at least 18 and serve me because I was THAT sophisticated.
This is becoming quite cathartic, thank you Mrs MCS!! Sorry about your wayward glitter moment, I'm sure you looked lovely nonetheless! xxx
Wouldn't a bit of glitter just make you more fairy like? :)
More fairy-like??? If only!!!

One time as I was opening the door to walk into the she she, upscale store, I looked down to realize that I had failed to take off my ugly big furry house shoes and put on my uber cute shoes. Luckily they had a great shoe department just inside the door, so I was able to resolve my embarrassing predicament. At least we didn't come out of the ladies room with a long streamer of toilet paper hanging down beneath the hem of our skirts! LOL. Cherry Kay
Am I alone in thinking the second pic looks quite good? Probably. I'm sure you looked gorgeous with a face full of glitter. xx
I came home the other evening and looking in the mirror realised I had gone out with just one of a pair of large hoop earrings a la Long John Silver!
I used to wear running shoes in my commute from the train to the office and one day forgot my heels. I made a quick exit out of the office and ran straight to Macy's to buy a pair!
XO,
Jane
gurrrrrrl, even glitter looks good on your lovely face. i think you're on to something.

There should have been a 'watch out, this post is very funny' warning at the top... as I have just dribbled my tea down my chin because I was laughing so much. It was the pictures!! I completely sympathise and I'm sure that no one else really noticed! (and yes, I had glitter face gel and thought that it was the most grown up thing ever). x
Hello sweet Sarah!
I would bet you still looked lovely, even with a little glitter. :) In fact, I have seen make up that actually is glittery that you put on your face, and it looks really pretty. :)
But I can very much relate to your story, and have had some mishaps of my own. Want to hear an especially horrid one? Years ago, I was shopping with my children at the mall for quite a while, before a lady took pity on me and informed me that I still had the size sticker on the pant leg! OH, I was mortified! Note to self: Promptly remove all stickers on new clothing BEFORE wearing! ;)
I hope you are doing well, and that you have a very blessed Easter, dear friend! :)
Blessings and hugs to you,
Jenni
Biked to work in a skirt and black stay-ups. After biking through half of town i stopped at a redlight and noticed my stay-ups wasnt up anymore, they nestled their lace around my boots. I tucked them in the boots and biked on.
Oh yeah, no more glittery shirts for me. And my sister bought glitter wrapping paper for Christmas. We all are mad at her. She gave her boyfriend a gift at work and he had glittler on his work outfit all day.
Oh, Sarah, this story makes me smile. You are definitely not alone!
That's a good story to tell a daughter someday.
Yes Sarah, I had a similar incident many many years ago...I went to a wedding in a beautiful rust coloured lace outfit and popped a white crocheted shawl on to get there....I realised half way through the night that whilst on the dance floor (dancing up a storm...impressing everybody...I thought)...that the fluff from the shawl had completely covered me and was only visible under those weird disco lights. I was covered in white specks...looked ridiculous...bummer what can you do, but have another champers and keep dancing! Robx
Actually the glitter-in-all-the-wrong-places is more common than you think! It gets even funnier when the glam glitter deposits itself on hubby's head...and he then has to present to a full room with the spotlight picking up every sparkle on his balding pate. (Everyone loved it!). Oh I did have fun that night :-)
Oh Please, I've gone out with my skirt tucked into my pantyhose. And more that once. Hey, I like sparkly! Love those eyelids. I remember those. In the 60's. I was there, and sparkling all the way, with Yardley makeup and perfume. I thought I was English.
I try not to think about the skirt that I was rocking with the zip totally undone at the back. For the whole night.
This post really made me smile. That's happened to me when I've been writing writing Christmas cards and then had a glittery face!

Funny story. I guess you can't call it a wardrobe malfunction if it's your face.
I don't think I have funny story to tell. Just the usual coffee spills on a business suit right before a job interview or important client meeting. We've all done that, right?
Okay, I had a hairy butt once after sitting on a chair at a party which apparently was home to the very spoiled but cute family yellow lab..... and after walking around the party in my black velvet pants my husband suddenly commented on my hairy butt!! It certainly sunk my party look rather quickly! Oh I could go on and on girl!!
When I was working, I had a pair of black low heeled shoes...and a pair of brown ones, just like them.
Got to the office one morning, as I walked into the coffee room, I happened to look down...yep....one black, one brown. Good thing I sat behind a desk all day and not a sole....uh....soul outside the office saw them. I had one of the ladies to bring me a sandwich at lunch so I didn;t have to go outside. :))
This made me laugh!! I feel your pain, i have gone entire work days with marker smeared across my face. Lovely to know I was talking to parents of students with blue all over my face... so flattering! I hope you are feeling well!

My most embarrassing public moment, and believe me there have been plenty, was when I was visiting my daughter in NYC. I thought I was dressed so stylishly and was walking down the street when something fell out of my pant leg. It was a pair of undies that had lodged there from the dryer. I just kept walking and pretended it didn't happen :)
I'm sure you look very pretty!
Love and hugs, Cindy
I would not worry - people will put it down to the preggie glow :) le xox
Been there done that...LOL!! It could have been worse....just chalk it up as experience!!!
Have a great day!!!

Hmmm... I seem to recall that when I was in my first couple of years at uni (late 90's - don't point out my age please! :) lol) it was cool to use a little glitter gell on your cheek bones near your outer eye... You could just say you were working on a disco theme and leave it at that ;)
I have to say that most guys I know (not necessarily yours) just don't get the whole glitter thing anyway. I'm sure you looked plenty cute with your bump and your glitter. :D
Keep kicking you heels up and having fun! :)
