Summer Loving Link Party....It's Here!!

Hey there, butterflies.
Today, I'm a-calling for all
Summer Loving
out there.

Come and link up so we can all feel the Summer Love.

Shall I go first?
Me? Oh, go on then.
Just for you....

Since reading Jane Packer's excellent book,
At Home with Flowers
I've been on the eye,
looking out for flower-holders
of the more unusual kind.

{Speaking of fabulous books,
I've got a stonkingly cool giveaway
coming up next week.}

I've had this pair of demi-johns
sitting by the fireplace
in our front room for a while.
And they seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

I love the touch of industrial chic they bring,
but at the same time softened by the beautiful roses,
 plucked fresh from the garden.

This is Modern Country Summer.
Best of new. Best of old.

Now it's YOUR turn!
Let's get this Linky Party on the road, shall we?
{It'll stay open for one week.}

Here are two things I'd love you to do:

1) Follow Modern Country Style
if you like what you see here.

2) Link back to me in your post
so other people can come and find the partaaaay.

Then everyone who comes over to Modern Country Style from other blogs who've linked back
will be able to see a link and picture from your blog,

Not rules, exactly...but I'm hopeful. ;-)

Paint, Please link party....oh, and my table reveal.....

Hello there, honeypops.

Welcome to my
Paint, Please link party.

So....where were we?
I've taken you through the whole process this week of painting a piece in
My Beginners' Guide To Painting Furniture
If you've missed any posts, then you can find the whole series by clicking here.

And today, I do believe I promised you the big ta-daaaaaaaaaaaah!
So without further ado, let the big reveal begin!

Here's what I started with.
An extending oak dining table in a baaaaaaad way.

I've created a weathered white oak finish on the top, using Annie Sloan paints.

And a mixed-by-me paint on the base.

I've called this colour Modern Country Grey.
{It's a perfect cool grey-green and I am in love.}

I want to paint our entire house from top to bottom in this colour and then
walk around in a haze of bliss.
{Mr Modern Country has vetoed the idea.}

I'm really hoping that this Beginner's Guide To Painting Your Furniture is showing you that there's NOTHING to be scared of. Because there really isn't. If you make a mistake you can wipe off and start over.
Easy as pie.

Did I ever tell you that I LOVE throwing parties here?
I absolutely LOVE looking through the posts you link up.
I LOVE finding new blogs to ogle.
I LOVE seeing what you have to share.

You can link up anything to do with paint....

favourite paint colours,
room redos,
painted furniture,
plus anything you'd like paint advice about....

Let's get this linky party on the road, shall we?
It'll stay open for one week.

Here are two things I'd love you to do:
1) Follow Modern Country Style
if you like what you see here.
2) Link back to me in your post
so other people can come and find the party.

Then everyone who comes over to Modern Country Style from other blogs who've linked back will be able to see a link and picture from your blog, and they can come and visit your fabulousness.

Not rules, exactly...but I'm hopeful. ;-)

Oooh, and one more thing....
next week, we'll be having a good look at eating spaces.
How to make the space inviting, warm and cosy.

Sounds good to me.

Kitchen Favourites Link Party

Hurrah! It's time for my
Kitchen Favourites Linky Party!

I'm calling for your 'Kitchen Favourites'.
Everyone has a favourite spot in their kitchen,
or a favourite item, or a favourite feature.
Or even something that you'd love in the future.
What is it and why?
I want to know.

So, let me start by showing you
how our kitchen looked before we dealt with it.
One word: bleeeurgh.

It was a place to pass through on the way to the garden,
or to use purely as a functional cooking space.
Then, one day, I decided I could live with it NO MORE
and that it simply HAD TO BE TACKLED.

So tackle it we did.
This was no time for ripping out starting afresh.
{Baby twins aren't the most careful of creatures, I've found...}
Plus there was plenty to be salvaged...
Definitely a redo, rather than an entire renovation.

But NOW? Ooooooh, I love it!
My absolute favouritest ever thing about our kitchen is that
it's a place I want to linger in.
I love being in here just for enjoyment.

It just shows how much you can change on a smallish budget.
It honestly feels like a different room to me now.

So how did we ring the changes?
You can see my Our Kitchen posts for more details
...or check My Home Tour at the top of this blog.

Now, what do you say?
Do you want to stay and have a drink here
or can I come over to yours now?
Please say yes. Please say yes...

Let's get this linky party on the road, shall we?

Here are two things I'd love you to do:
1) Follow Modern Country Style
if you like what you see here.

2) Link back to me in your post
so other people can come and find the party.

Then everyone who comes over from other blogs will be able to see a link and picture from your blog here on Modern Country Style so they can come and visit your fabulousness.

Not rules, exactly...but I'm hopeful. ;-)

And now?
Now, my lovely, it's YOUR turn.

Kitchen Favourites Link Party a-comin' up.....

Good weekend, peeps?

I've been the busiest bee in the entire world
but I was determined to blog today,
even if I had to scratch this post out with my eyeballs.
{Nice.}

I've been cooking you up a tasty little button for my
Kitchen Favourites link party this Thursday.
Here, for your visual titillation, is the very button of which I speak:

Kitchen Favourites

I'm calling for your 'Kitchen Favourites'.
Everyone has a favourite spot in their kitchen,
or a favourite item, or a favourite feature.
Or even something that you'd love in the future.
What is it and why?
I want to know.

All you need to do if you'd like to join
in the Kitchen Favourites party on Thursday
is to copy the html section at the base of the button
and paste that onto your blogpost.
Your very own fancy-shmancy linked-in button magic.
Woo-hoo!
{Don't say I'm not good to you, sweet cheeks.}

Now, I've had lots of email questions about link parties
so for those of you who don't yet know the ultimate pleasure
of a link party, this is how it goes:

To join in with the party on Thursday, you need to write a post on your blog about your Kitchen Favourites (more on that in a mo) and add in a bit about linking up to this party so that people reading your post can boogie on by here too. Come on over to Modern Country Style when Thursday's post goes up and follow the instructions to link up your post to the linky party.

Then everyone who comes over from other blogs will be able to see a link and picture from your blog here on Modern Country Style so they can come and visit your fabulousness.

Link Parties are a great way to promote your blog, if you have one,
and get to know lots of other gorgeous blogs.
Feel free to email me any questions you have.
You're TOTALLY on my guest list, y'see.
I'm in! You in?
Can you tell I'm super over- excited?

Tomorrow, I'll be kicking this off for realz.
{I've always wanted to say that...I need help}

Define Your Blog Link Party

Hello poppet,

Welcome to Modern Country Style's
Define Your Blog Link Party.

Look at your gorgeous hair? Did you do that just for today? You'll be the belle of the ball, you little minx.

Now, before we start, let's have a little recap of the week, shall we?

On Monday, I showed you how I put together Inspiration Posts.

Yesterday, I tried to define how I see the Creation part of my blog, using the Modern Country Crafts that I've made.

So today's question is:
how do I define Modern Country Renovation?

The Renovation part of Modern Country Style
is there because we moved to an
Edwardian house in the Cotswolds, England,
which needed a complete overhaul.

We're about half-way through the whole process now and having a blog has been a great way to help me chart all the ups and downs as we work at getting the look we want.

I think you might have guessed that I have a
huuuuuge passion for
Modern Country Interiors.

I find it takes the best of Traditional Country and combines it with a mellowed Modern look, and, perhaps more practically, it stands up pretty well to having our four little children scurrying around the place!

Modern Country Interiors can encompass so many
other looks that I love. I can easily fit in
a bit of Soft Industrial here and a bit of Belgian there,
with a touch of English Country too.
Those can all be accommodated with a bit of a twist to make a look that's completely unique to me.

Why don't I take you on a
whistle stop tour of the
Before and Afters in our home
and you can see what I mean?

{If the tour feels a bit too fast then feel free to click on each of the After images, which will take you to all related posts, which will give you more details and more photos.}

So, what's coming up next on
Modern Country Style?
Aah, now that would be telling.

But you can rest assured that there'll be:
a sprinkling of Modern Country Inspiration,
plenty of Modern Country Renovation
and a healthy dose of Modern Country Creation.

Yes, *that's* the definition of Modern Country Style.

How do YOU define YOUR blog?
Are you linking up?

Here are two things I'd love you to do:

1) Follow Modern Country Style if you like what you see here.

2) Link back to me in your post so other people can come and find the party.
Here's a button if you'd like one:

Inspiration Journey Linky Party

Hello poppett,

I am loving. your. outfit. So gorgeous.

Welcome to Modern Country Style's Inspiration Journey Linky Party.

Shall we sit down for a moment and have a recap of the week?

Want a cuppa tea? Hot chocolate with mountains of whipped cream, sprinkled chocolate and marshmallows? Wine?

Mmmmm, yeah, thought so. :-)

Now then.

On Monday, I showed you my Book Art inspiration images. Weren't the sculptures mind-boggling?

On Tuesday, I shared my hopes for entertaining in our garden this summer, using Al Fresco dining images.

And then, yesterday, I hope you enjoyed my post about How To Create Belgian Style.

What I love about blogs that use Inspiration Images is watching how they use the images to help shape their own thoughts.

Seeing how this image of a beautiful veranda...

might spark an idea as simple as this for eating outdoors....

Or how looking at pictures of Belgian Style...

...might be the beginning of designing a room that borrows heavily from that look but becomes what *you* want.

Inspiration ideas aren't there to dictate what we should be doing but I like to think of them as a spring board to finding out what *I* want to do with my home, or my crafts, or my wardrobe, or my garden.

In the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing in more detail about how to make Belgian Style work for YOU by creating a softened version of the look that can work in any home.

Plus, I've been working on some crochet projects that I'd love to show you.

Oh, and I want to have a brainstorm about accent colours in the kitchen as part of the Kitchen Makeover series.

My mind is all a-buzz.

So, tell me, what flips your flops?

You can link up Inspiration posts for crafts, your home, garden, clothes....really and truly, whatever inspires you.

Here are two things I'd love you to do.

1) Follow Modern Country Style if you're liking what you see here.

2) Link back to me in your post so other people can come and share the love.

Not rules...but I'm hopeful. ;-)

Now, take it away..... (just click on the button and follow the instructions and give me a shout if you need a hand)...
