We had such a lovely weekend getting everything ready for Christmas. Whenever we have the Decorating Weekend each year, I try and think up crafts for the children beforehand so they can feel involved while we get on with decorating round them.
{There's nothing quite like *another* bauble casualty to put a dampener on my festive cheer...}
This is what my second eldest made. I loved it so much that I thought I'd show you. It's easy-peasy but takes a good chunk of time to do.
{Perfect for a children's craft in my book.}
I gave her a bowl and sent her into the winter wilds of our garden to find some firm red berries. Then she carefully threaded the berries onto some wire.
When enough were threaded, we twisted the ends of the wire together, squeezed it all into a heart shape and added a pretty ribbon.
Obviously, the person doing this has to be responsible enough to know not to eat the berries but this was a great craft and only needed very minimal supervision.
I'm linking to Holly at Homebody's Thifty Gifty Party. Thank you all so much for linking up all your gorgeous wreaths at my Wreath Party last Friday.
{Well, it started on Friday but turned into a Weekender Bender...}
I've picked some out especially for you to feast your eyes on....

Yay! Thanks for featuring my wreath! So fun! I loooooooove the little berry heart! amazing! Wonderful! I don't have any little berries left in my garden, but I wonder if maybe some cranberries would work... I'm on it!
Glad you like the wreath (you inspired!) - and thanks for featuring it in your post. It was lots of fun, and I can't wait for term to finally end, and get the glitter and glue out with my youngest two! The berry heart is so sweet.x
What a cute wreath your little one made! How fun and a great idea! Loved all the wreaths you featured and I can't to see your adorable little Santa and how you made it!!
Thank-you kindly for the feature Sarah! What a pleasant surprise to wake up to this morning! I just picked a bunch of similar wild berries from my yard this weekend. They are currently sitting amongst some pine cones in bowl. I would love to try your heart ornament with some of them. That's very thoughtful of you to get the children involved!!! Happy Holidays Friend!!
That berry heart is beautiful! What a sweet idea. Love the ribbon, too.
Aww, thanks for featuring my copycat wreath! I love the sweet little heart, adorable!
Good Morning, Sarah!

Sarah- the wreaths look amazing!. I still haven't done mine yet- guess I'd better get cracking!
The berry heart is lovely. I bought one last year made from dried cranberries I liked it so much it now has a permanent home in my kitchen.
What a wonderful array of wreaths I must have a go.

Your daughter did a wonderful job on the pretty little berry wreath!!! I can't wait for my kiddo to be out of school next week so we can start crafting together!
It's a great idea to involve children in crafting.
The wreaths that you posted are beautiful
Hugs

I love the berry heart (I'm in everything-heart-shaped-mood right now!). It might be a project for next week... I don't have children but I love doing craft myself!!!
I tried to had a "follow me" button on the blog, under a picture of a Victorian letter box... Hopefully it will work...
Lots of Christmasy thoughts...

Oh that berry heart is molto magnifico (as they might say in Italy). I loved looking at those wreaths as well. I'm very sad that I couldn't join in the wreathy linky party but I will be doing a wreath post myself hopefully - watch this space. WEll not this space but you know what I mean! Bye bye.
Thanks so much for featuring my wreath!
Your daughter did a great job on the cute berry heart!
What a great idea, that berry wreath your daughter made, I just love it, so simple and gorgeous, I wish I had some berries to give it a go, and those wreaths, everyone of them beautiful!!!
Hi Sarah - Thanks so much for featuring all these incredible wreaths + your daughter's gorgeous berry heart. It is Berry Beautiful! Thank you also for introducing me to a whole heap of new and inspiring blogs! I have already popped in for a visit to Belinda and Michelle this morning and congratulated them on their wonderful creations! (Jute webbing! - who would have thought??) Update on my (long suffering!) wreath - Base....(tick) OMG the "mock orange" stems turned out to be a disaster - kept snapping. Ended up with some more co-operative Ixora stems and bound them with strips of palms fronds. How's that for a real taste of the Tropics! HOPEFULLY will have it finished this week!!!???? But hey, it's going to hang all year so what's the rush.... ;)Sharyne
Hey sweet Sarah! What a good mama you are getting things set up for the kids to do while you decorate. :-) This is such a cute idea and I just love how sweetly simple it is! Those wreaths are gorgeous and I want to link mine up too but I didn't actually make it...I only added to it! Does that still count? :-)
Vanessa
Oh no!!!!!! I'm too late for your wreath party..... noooooooo!
I'll blame it on my in-laws who were staying with me for 3 weeks. Torture! Ooops, I mean it was a lovely visit.
Thank you for the invite and hopefully I'll be on time for the next one.
P.S. That little heart wreath is adorable!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog and thanks for the suggestion of the translator with Google. I'll try, but I'm not very familiar with Internet.
Beautiful wreaths!

Hi Sarah!
I just love that sweet little heart ornament your daughter made! She did a beautiful job on it. :)
I am SO sorry I missed your Wreath Week last week, and your link party! There has been so much sickness in our house, and last week I didn't end up doing a lot of blogging! But I am going to catch up tonight on all of your posts! The wreaths that were linked up that you featured are all gorgeous!
I hope you are having a good week so far! We are off to Christmas shop as a family now! I'm just hoping it isn't too crowded! :)
Blessings,
Jenni
I adore that project. The berry heart is sheer perfection. I am so sorry I did not link up...my wreath is half made - life has gotten in the way of getting anything done - I finished decorating the tree at 1 am on Sunday and I must unexpectedly leave town this Sunday. These wreaths are all amazing.I hope mine is done before Christmas. Oh how I hate to miss a party!
Your daughter's little heart wreath is adorable :-) When I was reading your post, I read the part about "perfect for a childrens craft in my book" and I thought, oh wow, she's writing a book, how wonderful! I know, I read it a little too quickly, but I think a craft book would be right up your alley :-)
Blessings,
Marcia
