Gwyneth Paltrow's Kitchen

This is Gwyneth Paltrow's kitchen in the Hamptons.

Yup, a bit of celeb snooping today.

Black. Gwyneth.

Who'd have thought?

So it *is* possible to do dark in the kitchen, as long as there's lots of natural light that comes flooding in.

Which there is here.

Which there's not in our kitchen.

No, siree....but more on that next time.

In the meantime, how can I possibly mention Gwyneth without reshowing Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee.

Let me hear you say 'Brella, Brella, Brella...'

It's half term this week so if I'm being super-duper quiet, which I have been, then think of me neck-deep in Lego and Barbie.

I'll be back before you can say 'If I've picked that up once, I've picked it up a thousand times'....

How can it be that it seems most people have kitchens the size of my entire house? Enjoy the barbies and lego!

Gorgeous kitchen! And she's back on Glee in 2 weeks! : )

Very cool kitchen. And cheerful. Wasn't she great on the Grammy's?

Couldn't get the video to work though?

still laughing re picked that up once .... hee hee hee .... I'm not feeling the black kitchen - what happens at night - it still looks dull to me even with all the light - great bones though :) le xox

I love the black kitchen. Yep, I think you need a lot of light in there, but gorgeous all the same.

A black kitchen is not for me, but if she loves it, and I'm sure she does, then it's all good :)

Can you make a kitchen model out of lego? There's a challenge I'd like!

Hi Sarah,
Really pretty and very well done. I think why the black works so well is because of the glass in the upper doors.I wonder what size the kitchen is...
Its fun to see the stars kitchens!
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizabeth

I love the layout of her kitchen, the huge butcher block island, and that chandlier, oh and the subway tile. In love with that stuff lately. Not crazy about the black though. Take care Sarah!

Gwyneth is such a doll! I love a lot of her movies! Her kitchen is marvelous! That's the first time I've used that word since I started blogging. Just the first thing that came to mind! Another kitchen that ate my kitchen. Oh, to have all those cabinets and chandelier!

Hope you're having a lovely half time! I'll expect a full report upon your return!

Hugs,
Michelle

UHG that kitchen is HUGE!!! What the heck would you put in all those cupboards?

You could hoard and nobody would know because you could hide it all....what a massive kitchen!!!!!!

That is probably why the black works also.

Wow! That is soooo not what I would have expected from Miss Gwyneth but it really is amazing how it feels so light and bright despite the dark cabinets. I'm neck-deep in Legos too but not Barbies...not yet! :-)

Thansk so much for letting me know about the video not working. I've embedded a different version. Hope this one is better for you. Sorry for any annoyance. ;-)

I like the dark and light contrast. The natural light is amazing, and I love the white chandy. It's fun to peek and imagine...perhaps that's why we find blogging so enchanting.

I usually love dark cabinetry, but I don't see a whole lot of personality in this one. It sure is well designed, tho.

Oooooh!! I'd love to have this kitchen, it's enormous! Actually, I thought it was a dark green! lol! And I normally love white!

Love the video. I must be the only person in the world that doesn't watch Glee! Very nice dancing {in the rain!}

Thanks Sarah!

Jane

I have a red, black and white kitchen. I love it. Of course, it's not even a third of her large sized kitchen.
But, I'll keep it that way for a while. Thanks for the pics. Take care,
Leslie

Yes, I'd buy that for a dollar:) Gorgeous!

And loved the video, hadn't seen it. Boy, she was a triple threat... but throw in that kitchen and she's a quadruple threat.

Oh to have a kitchen that size...mine it about 1/4 of that!
Have fun with your kiddos..."knee deep in Barbies and Legos", that's a familiar place to me too :) Laurel

It actually suits G's lifestyle if you think about it...rock parties, little fingers, pets...yep it had to be black! :))

I wouldn't have thought black for Gwyneth, either. Kind of surprised. It's lovely, though. Enjoy the Legos and Barbies!

It's a beautiful space, but I'd prefer a lighter gray perhaps? Have fun picking up the toys...Janell

I love Gwyneth Paltrow. This kitchen somehow doesn't seem to fit her style, but maybe that's the point in a vacation house...to have something totally different than your norm. And I normally love black kitchens, but this one seems to lack any character or warmth at all despite a lot of great features and design details.

Interesting to be sure. And I haven't ever seen glee, but I'm sure I'd love her in it. :)

It's a pretty kitchen for sure, but, I am not loving the black.

Knee deep and leggos and Barbies? Have fun with the kiddos.

Hello Sarah!

That kitchen is HUGE! And it is very beautiful, too. I love the style of the kitchen island...

I hope you are having fun with your kiddos this week! I chuckled at the whole "picked it up once, twice" thing, too...I know exactly what you mean! Our kids are on mid-winter break this week. It is snowing outside and they are hoping for several inches by tomorrow morning! :)

Hoping you have a good Thursday! Or that you did have a good Thursday? I have trouble remembering how much time difference there is between here and England...Are you about 12 hours ahead? You'd think I would already know this...

Blessings,
Jenni

Wow! My friend painted her cabinets black recently and they look beautiful. I'd love to paint mine. I'm still trying to convince my husband :-)
Goodness I know that last line well!

Hahaha, I'm laughing, Sarah, at your last comment about picking things up. YES, I know exactly what you mean, I spend a great deal of my life tidying up after other people. Grrrr.

Enough ranting. Yes, the kitchen, what's not to love?

I love Gwyneth's kitchen!! Imagine having those ceilings (and having to dust the cobwebs!)...it is just beautiful! I do love it alot.

There's room for my bed in that kitchen, wonder if Gweneth would mind? Have fun this week. Days filled with legos and Barbie, right up my alley. Shall I send a double shot expresso your way?xoxo

Hi Sarah, Gosh, I have surprised myself by thinking I quite like the black kitchen! Total contrast to what we have just chosen as it is all white! Ha ha! Hope you are surviving the holidays. It is a lovely sunny day here so we have been playing in the garden, yipee, Spring is on the way!

I just adore Gweneth! Her kitchen is beautiful and so full of natural light, the black looks beautiful! I loved that Glee clip, how fun to dance and sing in the rain!! Have a wonderful time with the kiddos!!!

I'm going to go against the general feedback and say yes please I would love your kitchen Gwynnie, if you would like me to take it off your hands. I will take the rest of the place site unseen as well thankyouverymuch.

The high white ceilings, the white chandeliers (swooning), the light coloured floors (would never happen in my kitchen, can you say black furball cat?), the glass cupboards all lighten and brighten the space. Gorgeous.

Enjoy your legos darling! xxx

I have a friend (not Gywenth) with a gorgeous black kitchen, as you say works well in the right place. I also love Glee, my daughters introduced me to the programme and it is on here prime time as Italians love this sort of show as well.

What a great rendition of that song! This kitchen is great, I could never pull off black but lots of people do.
Have a lovely week with your kiddos.

"Brella, brella, brella", uh? what was I thinking before that? Ah, yes! When I was with friends in Paris for December 31st, I went to Ikea (might seem weird, so just before you call me insane, I also went to the opera...) and Ikea had a wonderful black kitchen, that would look about the same but cheaper... I was amazed at myself that I actually loved it!
I bet Gwyneth was able to rehearse her routine in her kitchen, since it looks so big!

Valerie@chateaualamode.typepad.com said...

Hi Sarah, You know, I've never seen Glee...might just have to watch it! Loving her kitchen and the black cabinets, even though I don't think black cabinets would be for me. She probably has more than one kitchen to decorate which makes it very fun for her I'm sure.
Hope you're having a great week.

Can you believe I haven't watched a single episode of Glee. Crazy I know! Thanks for the clip, now I know what I've been missing!

Hi Sarah! I'm back! Oh, how I've missed you and your wonderful posts.

Very pretty kitchen...it don't think I would like black though...shows too much dust. Have a good weekend :)
