Okay, yes, this house had plenty going for it in the Before photos
(namely, it's pretty dang big) but look! Look at what they did to it!

If you live in a street like the one where this is, which was apparently filled with Edwardian beauties, while the 'before' house stuck out like a sore thumb, or in a street with houses from a number of different periods, then the opportunities for you to create exactly the look you want are absolutely endless.
Getting it right is all in the details.
So much care has been taken to get the look on all counts:
While I love the Edwardian exterior of our house, as I said on Monday, there's PLENTY to do. This site gives me so much hope that it's possible to get exactly the results I'm looking for.
One more peek at this beauty? Go on then...

So important! This is one area where I always feel totally lost, so I made sure we found a house that was already pretty nice looking from the outside. Can't wait to see what you do!
I can just imagine how much light has been brought into the back of the house with those changes! True inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

love the door color! and wow- what a house!!! it's gorgeous!
Wow, would love to have an entry like that!! I guess it's a matter of cash ;-)
miels van der rohe was right...God is in the details. Love all those details-they make the house. xo
Love these before and after shots. The landscaping is beautiful, it really enhances the overall look.
That house was an improvement, but a lot of the other examples from that site were transformations that could have been done with a little more respect. One example where they tore out the 20s windows and installed hideous monsters instead. I think you can gain a lot of curb appeal with a nicely maintained garden and some love. Have fun!
This is a beautiful redesign. I love it!
The hardscape addition made all the difference. I also love that door color! :)
Wonderful! I especially like the back. The larger windows will let in more light, and the conservatory is much more charming.
Really like the porch element with the tiny heart cut outs, a cheeky if not original feature! Sharon
This is a beautiful home! Someone had grand ideas for it. I love the lush lawn!

beeuutifulll! Just gorgeous!
What a change! I love it! x
Wow it really makes such a difference. It's so much cuter now :)
Swoon, swoon! Wow, what a beautiful house that is. I wish our exterior transformation was going to be that good but there is a limit with a 1960s semi-detached! Look forward to seeing your transformation. Mx
Fantastic! before and after. We have snow and underneath the carnage the reno created last summer. I'm almost afraid of the snow melting C:
Sarah,
"Mr. Ed" and I have been looking at exterior house paint colors since December...no decisions, yet. Thanks for this inspiring post!
Fondly,
Pat
It sounds like you are ready to dig in, get your hands dirty and start having fun. Can't wait to see your before and after.
Today it is a beautiful spring day in Chicago ... but still a little too early to start gardening.
Fondly,
Glenda
Wow! So beautiful! I think the windows are what make it really special.
Incredible the difference something like that makes. We are renting (living where we do for hubby's work), so I can't renovate, but I have permission to do with the garden as I please. I'm really looking forward to more inspiration from MCS. :)
Very pretty! I love that style of house, too.
Like a bricks and mortar facelift! Hope their will be some space for lush planting in your redo?;)
What a transformation - lovely result!

Oh that is one lovely transformation... Love the new facade looks really nice and homey.
What a gorgeous transformation - the new windows and all of the details are stunning. We used to see many homes exactly like this in Dublin too.
Btw: I've tagged you in my post today if you'd like to play along :)

Oh my what a completely gorgeous house ,the sort of house i would love to live in ,maybe one day ,i can dream xx
It is wonderful that the architects maintain the integrity of the original and translate that into an addition/upgrade beautifully.
Beautiful and I LOVE
the new driveway and
wall with shrubs. Such
a sweet house!
xx Suzanne
It's amazing what a difference those changes made.
What a gorgeous home and I love all the landscaping around it as well. We so desperately need to do something with both the front and back of ours, hoping this is finally the year we take our fingers out!! lol xxx
Love the changes they made!!! Will take another look at how I can upscale my house. I so agree ~ it's all in the details. A couple summers back I got a new and lovely garage door that had the curved windows across the top because my garage door opening is curved. It was pricey, but what a difference it made to the looks of the house. Now, I've noticed similar changes in the neigborhood. It's nice to know people notice and even copy.

Excellent work is done. I can't believe that both picture are of the same house. It looks so beautiful and different.
hello there, wow, love the outside of your house, just wondering if you know what colour it is painted?

The house seems more satisfactory with the improved look. To be honest, looking at the previous exterior makes me feel that something’s lacking. And I guess the new portico and the roof trim, especially the roof trim, have to take most of the credit for this reno. :D -->Leif
