This picture is so Modern Country. I love it. If you look beyond the details, it is possible to notice that the staircase is rather dated, the walls aren't smooth and are those plasterboard lines on the ceiling?
But you don't see that, do you? You see the Modern Country STYLE:
the mix of photos, cohered by the black frames and consistently black and white photography;
the industrial vintage touch of the casually-placed printing block;
a tight colour palette: black, white and the hint of gentle winter-seas on the tongue and groove door;
the use of the scrolled metal on the mirror brings a little softness, making this hallway firmly Country....

Fantastic! It all blends so great. That door is fabulous!
I love printing block compartment things - I have one in my kitchen and I used one to make a present once...put personal things in it.
I looked at Ikea's UK page and it seems like you have the same news, so don't worry :)
I really like the picture you are showing today - I want to make a collage like that one my wall some day soon... Thanks for the inspiration.
Have a lovely evening

You have a wonderful decorating style. Are there any pictures of the exterior of your house?
Love this. Very clean with a little pop of color :)
It is just gorgeous! I love that door. I would love a close up of it. It is so neat it reminds me of the cottage in sleeping beauty that the fairies and Aura live in. You know you are around littles too much when you start relating everything to a Disney movie:> anyways great post
Holly,
I don't currently have any postings about the outside of our house.....but you're not the first person to ask!! I'll see what I can rustle up for you. :-)
Tricia,
I love that: 'a pop of colour'. I'm writing it down in my mental notebook!!
Danielle,
I hadn't thought of that but you're right! It could be a little Disney door. Your comment made me chuckle. I am around littlies a LOT so can completely relate to what you mean!!
xx
Dear Sarah, I am so pleased to have found you, since through your delightful weblog I shall come to understand what modern country style is. For my own part, my style could perhaps be best described as country house shabby chic in the town. Although the shabby and the chic are only textile fibres apart!
I love the black framed black and white photographs massed on the wall. If in doubt I always find that more is more and even more is better still!
Dear Edith,
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I so appreciate it.
I should think, once you learn about Modern Country Style your education will have been completed. :-)

Just added your photo to my digital mood board for a troublesome area in our house. Thank you for the solution! before and after photos will be coming!
Love it! Scrumdiddlyumptious (note to self: must use that word more) indeed!
Oh, that is a gorgeous vignette! You're right, the details are perfect. And you know I am a sucker for anything industrial.
