Something's Gotta Give: Dining Room

Let's take a look at the
Something's Gotta Give Dining Room,
shall we?

Compared to the other cavernous rooms in The Beach House
{does anyone have a bedroom that size?}
the dining room is positively teensy.

Small but perfectly formed.

To make the most of the space, the dresser has been built back into the wall, creating the look of a large piece of furniture without taking up inches.

I love the fact that the director, Nancy Meyer, insisted that this house should be so user-friendly. The rooms all flow incredibly easily into one another.

And when I say house, I mean, of course, film set.
It's hard to believe that this is all a mock-up, isn't it?

Look how beautifully the table is dressed.
Even for a fairly informal dinner.
Those candlesticks in the centre are a gorgeous touch.

Speaking of dressing tables gorgeously, the winner of the New House Textiles tablecloth is Lizzie Bradbury
{Lovely Lizzie, I'll be emailing you in two shakes of a bee's knee.}

And so, we come to the end of our
Something's Gotta Give House tour.
But, never fear.....

On Wednesday, I'll be taking a closer look at how you can make this look work for YOU.
{Yes, even on a smaller scale!}

Talk about tiny dining rooms . . . that would be mine! I would LOVE to have a round dining table, but my room is just too small. I've really enjoyed your series--this house is too gorgeous for words!

This just gets better, when you're watching the movie you don't get as good a look as with these moments captured in time. Beautiful, Sarah.
The hutch is aahhhhhhhhmazing! I love all the white plates, with the patina.
I have been thinking of changing out my china for my brown and white for Fall and I really have to get on the ball, this inspires me to do so.

OH, MY! I just got your comment and then read your post!!!

THANK YOU so much! I am so excited about this table cloth and it's a real treat I wouldn't normally be able to afford. I really did not expect to win at all, in fact, it's the first blog competition I've ever entered!

Thank you, Sarah, and sorry for your not being able to find my email, it's: lizzy.bradbury@gmail.com - Nice and simple!

I'll send you my address in a mo but just quickly want to say that I was actually sad when I read to the end of the last house tour post but when you reminded us of going into more detail I started to fill with anticipation!

Thanks again,

Lizzy x

I watched this movie over the weekend... twice. I always pause the bits in the kitchen to see the beautiful fittings but I have never really noticed the dining room, I am now totally in love with the chair covers and the double doors that open into it! SWOON!

Ahh swoon, love this, my favorite movie house.

I love taking in all of the details of this house. As you mentioned the other day, it is 2003 and everything looks great, classic and something we all could attempt on a smaller scale.

Love it! Have a great week.

The house is amazing, but it was this room in particular that I loved, it's simplicity, and intimate feel are so lovely. I love round dining tables, ours is oblong, round seems so friendly and welcoming, and yes the stylish candle arrangement sets it at off beautifully.

I thought their dining room was huge, I guess it is in comparison to mine, but then my house would fit into their bedroom!
I love the color scheme of the dining room, the white trim and the white dishes. And I love the table and chairs, this is probably my favorite room of that movie.
Hugs, Cindy

Hello sweet Sarah! I am catching up on your lovely blog, and loving every room in this movie set! My favorites are the kitchen and the dining room. I love the large white hutch in the dining room with the pottery on it! :)
I have never seen the movie, though! Must look into it! :)

I hope your week is off to a wonderful start, my friend!

Hugs,
Jenni

I'm seriously crazy
about this house.
It's feminine but not
so much that a man
wouldn't feel right at
home, as well. Loved
the tour, Sarah!
