Case Study: Farrow and Ball Pigeon

The colour I chose for the bedside table was
Farrow and Ball Pigeon
Picking a colour for the bedside table transformation
was a tricky bunny.

Farrow and Ball Pigeon

Like picking up a bar of slippery soap in the bath.

I scoured paint sample after paint sample to find the perfect shade. But as soon as I saw Farrow and Ball's Pigeon, held up against our bedroom colour (Farrow and Ball Light Blue) and our mahogany bed, I knew it was the one.

The paint cooed to me.
{Pigeon? Cooing? Geddit?!}

And the siren-like call of Farrow and Ball paints is pretty hard to resist.

I hope these Case Study paint posts will save you time when looking for paints, showing a variety of pictures that show Farrow and Ball Pigeon in different lights.

Although, I have to say it wasn't wholly unenjoyable....
I rather like all that fussing and sighing over paint...

The colour of Pigeon changes from very grey with a tinsiest hint of bluey-green to a grey-green in stronger sun.

Very much like a pigeon......?!
I'll get back to you on that one...

It's a beautiful colour that definitely leans towards the greener end of grey.....

....but Pigeon has enough blue in it to give depth and interest.

Beautiful Color Sarah. I've been toying with the idea of adding a touch of grey in my guest room.

Lovely shots of gray Sarah, I too am surprised at the name, but it is a beautiful color!

OOOh, I love the colour. I'll bear that in mind next time I paint some furniture. They seem to have stopped making the oil based eggshell though. I never find the water based paints as hard wearing. What do you think?

Oh sigh. Such a perfect color. And there's one of those hearts I love! That seems like a great go-to color. I've been in need of one of those lately.

Such pretty shades of color - yes, this pigeon one is adorable, so soft and subtle!

This paint color is like all of my favorite shades in one. I have found myself really drawn to greys this year. It's like the new neutral. They just speak soft. Thanks for sharing what you used...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Sarah, I love your choice of paint colour and am not surprised that it should be a Farrow and Ball paint. Their paints are so wonderfully chalky and have a depth of colour that is, I think, very difficult to beat. The only other paints that come close are those by Zoffany I find.

The bedside table is charming and so beautifully practical.

Lovely hues. We just had our garden door replaced and I thought I could find that soft sage green on the cheap. Result? Mint green. Say no more. Howl!!xxx

Hi Sarah, may I say that you are a complete and utter loon (in the nicest possible sense OF COURSE!).

Loved your posts about vintage suitcases btw. I'm afraid that I'm going to copy you shamelessly and will definitely be dragging Mr J and P's family airloom suitcase from the loft and filling it with my vintage woollen blankies and crocheted granny blankies. Sooooo excited!!

Looking forward to your book review - the book looks v interesting.

Me again. What's an airloom? I meant heirloom of course. I'll go now.......

Really nice gray! We just painted the dining room Valspar Aspen Gray (we are renting while we sell our house so I didn't want to spend a bunch of money), it is actually quite lovely, grays are hard! XX!

That is a gorgeous colour. I wish we had farrow and ball paints here. I have my eye on those new Jo Malone candles that are in farrow and ball votives...maybe for my birthday next month!

Best wishes,
Natasha.

Great idea, a paint post. I am thinking of changing some of the colors in my condo. Will have to check out your other paint posts. I am leaning towards gray.

I love a paint that changes in the light! I ordered the Farrow and Ball paint chart and it just arrived yesterday. Too bad I'll never pay that much for a gallon of paint! I wonder if Home Depot can color-match it successfully.

Did you wash the paint on the shiplap wall? I was thinking about doing a pigeon shiplap wall but this looks a little like a wash maybe? Thanks!
