Style Britannia: Me

Hello rabbits,
Are you well?

Over the last couple of weeks,
I've shared inspiration images of the
And then this week, we broke it down step by step,
to help us get our own gorgeousness together.
{If you want to check it out, it's as easy as 1,2,3!!}

And now, for the practical.
Today I'm showing you *my* take on
Modern Country Style.

Could I be more butterflies-in-my-tummy?
I'm not sure I could but here goes...

It's Modern.
The chunky belt slung low over my hips.

It's Country.
The pretty textured embroidery in the tailored blouse

It's Modern Country.
The echo of riding boots and jodhpurs in the skinny jeans and be-buckled knee high boots.
{Oh boots, you're my favourites.}

{Did you spot the cat's tail?!}

Here's a little secret.
I don't know about you but when I'm feeling sad,
I find it hard to pick out clothes to wear.

Sad Me seems to purposefully choose items that
make me feel the wrong shape or height or size.

So I've developed a cunning scheme to
overpower Sad Me's rubbish clothes choices.
When I come across an outfit that makes me feel zingy,
I write down what I'm wearing in my special Happy List.

Then, next time Sad Me rears her miserable little head,
I consult my Happy list and choose what to wear from there...
and it's usually not long before
Happy Me comes out to play again.

Try it and see.
It works a treat for me.

Boots: Clarks
Jeans: Gap
Blouse: Dotty Ps
Belt: Country Living Fair

Looooooove your boots! And the rest of the outfit is perfect too, not sure why you were so nervous, you look great. And I think your happy list is the best idea I've heard of in a long time. Thanks for all the styling tips~

You look amazing!! LOVE those boots! Thanks for the Happy List idea. My clothing choices are something I struggle with too, so I'm going to give your list a go to see if it helps me out. Thanks again!!

How on earth could you ever feel nervous about showing us your absolutely positively gorgeous self??!!! You are beyond lovely and these photos look like they should be in a magazine my friend! I am sitting here typing this in sweatpants and feeling very frumpilicious so I definitely won't be writing down my current ensemble on any "happy list"! LOL! Seriously, though Sarah, you look every bit the epitome of fresh modern country style and this was such a fun way to get to know you a wee bit better! :-)

Look at your beautiful self! I don't know why you were so nervous...you look great girl! You've got the look down perfectly.

I know what you mean about happy and sad clothes. I'm going out to lunch with my sister today, again :) and I was was sure to put on some pretty pinks instead of my usual blacks just to change my mood :)

big hugs ♥ tricia

Adorbs! You're darling. I've loved the style breakdown. You've done a nice job with this series and you totally rock the look. I love the boots, too.
Way to be brave and put yourself out there. It may have made you uncomfortable but I think you look great in it.

Erin S. said...

What a stylish and classic ensemble, and you are absolutely lovely, Sarah! Kate better watch out that William never gets an eyeful of you :). I guess Mr. Modern Country might object, though... :). I think your happy list is a great idea, too--I know when I feel like I look good, I am much less likely to be cranky. Put me in second-day-in-a-row sweats, and I'd have to win the lottery to feel cheerful. It may be a little shallow, but there it is. Thanks for this series--it was fun!

Carla @ Hammers and High Heels said...

Love your outfit! You look so cute :) Love those boots! I will try that outfit writing down thing, it's a good idea!

I've been waiting to see more of you my friend. Ack! You are truly stunning. AND your outfit personifies modern country. Love it! Oh, I need to do the same thing...happy clothes=happy me. And I seriously need some boots. :) Happy weekend to you!

Tracy Glover said...

I am really glad you did this. It is lovely to see the person behind the blog. You remind me of a young Mia Farrow, lovely bone structure and a natural elfin prettiness.
I love your clothes too. I know what you mean about sad days. My friend says that having lots of clothes is not the same as having lots of things to wear and this is also true in my case.
Great boots, just fabulous. xxx

Erin said...

Work it, Sarah! :) You look absolutely resplendent in this modern country outfit. And the garden is the perfect backdrop to your outfit!

I can easily see why those boots are your favorites and your belt is *swoon* gorgeous! I live in jeans and casual skirts and ballet flats or flip flops, depending on the weather. I will be on the look-out for a pair of boots because you totally elevated your outfit with that one element alone.

Thank you for being brave, but you haven't a thing to be nervous about: you're beautiful!

Take care,
Erin

I'm wearing frumpy jeans and just got back from garage sailing. Think I need a happy outfit. Fun to see pictures of you, my friend! You look ravishing!

SAD SAD! how could you ever be sad looking like that - back in the day when I had a figure, jeans would never look like that on me. Modern Country Style personified. A stylish modern Country miss (OK MRS) at her very best. No wonder your husband takes you for lunch. A true natural beauty. Good genes and jeans!

Hi Sarah,
I have loved these posts so... much. You look so... cute in your outfit. I have taken your advice and I went shopping this morning. I bought some new jeans and guess what? Boots. I read your post just now and my boots are so... similar to yours. I love the belt you've got on too, might have to get one similar. It would pull my tummy in a bit. So Sarah, you helped me do my Mothers' Day shopping for myself all the way over here in Australia. Thanks for making my Mothers' Day extra special. I am not that confident choosing clothes and shoes. You helped enormously. Many thanks. xxoo
