The Royal Wedding In Photos

Welcome back to all things
British and Modern Country
sublimely rolled into one delicious day.

Oh my, oh my, oh my. I cried. Yes, I did.
And more than once.

At the wonder of marriage.

At the solemnity before God.

At a whole country coming together.

At the national anthem.

At the balcony kisses.

I marvelled at the beautiful dress.
I should point out that we have moved on from my blubbing list.
It was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.
I love its combination of modesty and majesty.

I soaked up every minute of the British pageantry.

That is quite some train, is it not?

The joy of the occasion was palpable.
The bride looked utterly radiant.

And the couple looked thrilled to be together.

I wish the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
a long and happy life together.

I do love that they seem to really love one another. I was busy playing kitchen with my nephew. Thanks for the highlights!

Thank you! These are actually the first pictures of the wedding I've seen. I love how simple and pretty (yet elegant) her dress is, and the fact that they actually look happy and loving.

I watched it with Kennedy this morning before she went to school and she was GLUED to the TV. Refused to look away. We loved the whole thing! So impressed with you for having a whole post written about it already!

Sarah, thank you so much for the recap. I've yet to go on BBC to watch the videos but I thought I'd come here first. A great day for British pride isn't it? Anglophiles everywhere are cheering today! :)

After reading your blog this past week, and with coaxing from my 14yo daughter, I set the alarm and got up at 4 (just like I did at her age for Charles & Di). And we watched the whole thing.
I thought it was all beautiful. The happy couple, the abbey, the reading, the national pride - all worth watching.
And my goodness, she was lovely.

Gorgeous photos! Thank you for posting them. I am at work today and didn't get up early to see everything happening here in the US. I am just dying to see more photos and videos of the wedding! Her dress did not disappoint, I was hoping she would go for that classic Grace Kelly style and she did, so so so gorgeous! Ugh, I love it!

Lovely post, and nice to see pics of that gorgeous dress again - my goodness didn't she look amazing? Their happiness was so evident and moving, you couldn't help but be swept up by the energy of it all - wonderful!

I posted about this today, too. The Anglophile (and the wedding lover) in me could not be contained! I must admit I shed a tear or two, as well :). Loved your take on it, Sarah!

It was beautiful and modest. I applaud them for not having an ostentatious wedding in these hard economic times. IT was very modern and responsible in thinking.
Just think of how much money it would have cost the taxpayers for security of a large bridal party.

Queen Elizabeth looked good, with Prince Philip.

I loved the kids, too.

They look very sweet, for such glamorous people. And it looks like it would been so much to be there!

I love royal weddings! The swedish Victoria and Daniel, our Dutch Maxima and Alexander. Prince Albert plans to marry Charlene Wittstock this summer, but this couple is not my cup of tea. By the way, have you seen the Royal Room Seventeen Wedding Suite??

I LOVED the wedding. Even though it would only work for who it was and where it was, Or maybe, that is why it worked.

God bless them and may they forgive us who will never understand the ladies wearing bird nests on their heads):-

I watched it from start to finish (recorded it and watched the next morning) and enjoyed it every bit. It was so much more meaningful than Will's dad and mom's wedding. In this one, you could feel the love. In the other wedding, not so much.
I pray THIS marriage will be much much happier.

You've posted the best photos. It was beautiful. I loved her dress too. I'm really hoping this will spur a wave of designers to create more modest wedding dresses. It looks so elegant.

I completely agree with everything you said. I so enjoyed watching all of it live as well as watching it again for a second time in the evening. I guess I'm just an incurable romantic.

I was preparing my own wedding post and decided to see if my blogging friends were posting about the same thing. Surprisingly not many did but I knew you would Sarah.

And you were smarter than me since your photos were from the BBC website and I took my own off the TN and so they are not so good.

I agree with you. It was emotional and beautiful and stately
and I am so glad I got up early to see it live.

Sarah, your posts are making me smile. I love your little comments here and there...I thought Kate made the perfect royal bride. She looked beautiful in her dress. Is she a duchess and a princess now? Or does the princess part come later? I'm not clear on the monarchy...I hope you're having a great weekend! Just wanted to stop by and say hi!

I too soaked in the whole day, loved it!! I thought it was so romantic and magical!! I couldn't get enough!! Love your pics!

Sarah,
I got up at 3am to watch and be in the "real" moment! It was so natural and lovely for such a "royal wedding". She was perfection and her dress, gorgeous! I have to say, I also loved her sister's dress. They are an adorable couple and the sweet looks they gave each other! The whole ceremony was perfect. Hope they have a long and wonderful life together! Have enjoyed your posts.

These photos give me goosebumps all over again, Sarah! I awoke right at 6 a.m. on Friday and caught the first part of the ceremony but unfortunately could only watch 15 minutes before I had to get ready for the day and leave the house. Thank goodness for DVR though as I was able to watch the 5 hours of coverage tonight and soak it all in.

Wow, wow, wow. You captured exactly the elements that struck me about the whole event.
Kate was an absolutely radiant bride, so poised as she always is. (Did you know she did her own make-up? She said she wanted William to be able to recognize her--for some reason I just loved that.) The love between them is palpable and I wish them all the happiness in the world. Thank you for chronicling this lovely couple all week long--it's been a treat to read!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend, my sweet. Two more days left of no work + blue skies, so off to picnic by the lake in the park :-)

I watched in true-time, and again the following day with girlfriends (via TIVO), then a 3rd time during breakfast on Sunday! All during a weekend of pomp for my girlfriends and myself! Beautiful! Your photos of the wedding and Kate's fashion are good examples of great style!
