Day 23: Pimp Your Wardrobe and My Valentine's Present!

Dress: Blossom, Cardigan: Fat Face, Fur Gilet:: Primark, Belt: Fat Face

Hello angels,

Do you find it hard to choose what to wear in the morning? What goes with what? Colours? Shape? Well, struggle no more...Pimp Your Wardrobe is here! I'm going to share some of the easy guidelines I use all the time to pick out outfits.

Mission 1, should you choose to accept it, is to sort through your wardrobe and get rid (that's right, get rid) of any clothes that don't fit you well. I don't mean clothes that are the wrong size necessarily but clothes that don't flatter you, whatever shape you are.

We all have them. Clothes with baggy bottoms, or shapeless elbows. Dresses that are waaaaaay past their sell-by date. Give the items that look great on you NOW a chance to shine.
Bin, bin, bin those nasties.

How was your Valentine's Day?
This year, mine was absolutely perfect. So, you want to know what my big surprise was? The waiting-six-months-in-total-suspense surprise?

It was this:

Guy took the photo and had it framed for me. It's the Bible reading that was read at our wedding. The ring is Guy's wedding ring and did you see that the angle of the light makes the shadow fall as a heart?

It honestly feels like the most romantic thing in all the world. Not the hearts and flowers that I might normally like, but deep, steady, committed, lasting love.

Readers, I swooned.

Aw, definitely a swoon-worthy valentine gift! Very sweet. I love your outfit!

And thanks for the wardrobe tip! I actually did that this time last year, getting rid of all my skinny clothes. Then I lost weight and had nothing to wear! A good problem to have ;-)

What a sweet gift, kind of like the time my hubby drove me to the beach and got on his knees and proposed again, handing me a diamond band, he and our daughter had picked out. (we have been married 38 years this was our '35th' year) HE WAS SO HAPPY I said YES. (goofy guy) :o)

Valerie@chateaualamode.typepad.com said...

That is absolutely positvely the most romantic gift I have ever seen. How sweet is your hubby? He's definitely a keeper. May I also say you look so beautiful Sarah!

Are you kidding me?? This is seriously THE most romantic gift I've just about ever seen in my life. It is deeply personal, filled with personal and spiritual heft and it's lovely to look at. AND he planned it out ahead of time. Hey - fugeddabout the flowers and candy - this is the real deal. KEEP THIS MAN.

Thanks for your sweet notes at my place from time to time, sweetie. Love checking in here each night before I head to sleep. You're looking lovely as ever. :>)

Oh, I love the word swooned! There's not enough swooning these days. And that is a lovely passage, not usual for weddings but very apt. That is a great present from Guy - Tell him top husband points!

My boy didn't do too badly either...I was really rather thrilled with valentines this year :-) It's only our second married.

You looked lovely as per usual and the tip of getting rid of baggy things is a good idea - but am I allowed to keep one pair of baggy comfortable jeans (they are designer) and one loose jumper - Just for slouchy days?

Or is that bad?

I had to share your V-day pressie idea with the hubby! :) I like thinking that is outside the box.
Hey Sarah, do you apply the "get rid of clothes that don't fit you well" principle while you are pregnant? (being that it's short term) I have things that fitted well before this pregnancy... with 17 weeks to go, I kinda feel like I should wait a bit to sort what works and what doesn't.
