When I first worked with Farrow and Ball Green Blue, I pretty much skipped around the room, because, at last, here is a Farrow and Ball paint colour that truly does what it says on the tin!

Farrow and Ball Green Blue is a muted mid-toned teal - part green and part blue. Nothing complicated, and nothing tricky!

Yes, if you put it in a warmly-lit room, by which I mean sunlight or candescent bulbs, then it will appear greener...
...or bluer in a dimly lit, North-facing room, or under cool artificial light.
However, to purposefully bring out Farrow and Ball's Green Blue greener side, simply contrast with shades that have a cooler, bluer undertone such as the Farrow and Ball Pavilion Gray here:

To bring out its bluer side, choose to contrast with greens, such as the chest of drawers in this image (Farrow and Ball Green Blue is on the walls)...

However, you'll see from these images that Farrow and Ball Green Blue is fairly consistent. There are no sideways slippery moves whatsoever.

Just a beautifully chalky, Robin's egg greenish blue. Or bluish green!

Paired with warmer shades, Farrow and Ball Green Blue is a traditional Country colour and none the worse for that. Pretty, gentle and cosy.

But put it next to starker choices: white, charcoal or black, and it comes into its Modern Country best.

Softening the harshness of its partner colours and soothing those contemporary lines. This makes Green Blue a fantastic choice for kitchen cabinets.

Just the same holds true when Farrow and Ball Green Blue is use in exteriors: sheds, front doors, or woodwork.

This is a colour that does pure country charm to perfection. Here's Farrow and Ball Green Blue on a country front door complete with garland:

Yet teamed with the harder edge of chrome, iron or lead, just look at the wonders it performs at bringing its rustic beauty to these handsome townhouse looks with this perfect front door paint.

Yes, Farrow and Ball Green Blue is a great choice for front doors. A definite contender in my search for the Holy Grail of the best front door paint colours.

It is a strong colour so beware in small rooms where it will certainly dominate; not necessarily a bad thing but best to be prepared for the onslaught of colour...

But the strength of colour means that, even when dazzled by strong rays from the sun, which will leach and bleach even the strongest colour, Farrow and Green Blue will still hold its own on exterior woodwork....

or sheds.....

I've found the colour for my hallway! Thanks :)
Hi Sarah, I always really enjoy your selection of photographs and I adore that particular Farrow and Ball shade. Very interesting to see how you have shown how the light changes the colour. thanks for the ideas and inspiration. Imogen x
Beautiful interiors and great colour:)
I love this colour and it was my first idea for the kitchen walls... After testing it on samples, it was too dark for my room. I went with Pavillion Blue, which has also some blue and green, but is much lighter.
Sarah, Thank you sooo much for your color studies!! I found I have chosen several FeB sample pots, only to find you have a study done - so handy!
I will make sure I send you pics when our "neverending reno" is over - thank you!

Hi. Farrow and Ball paint is not available in Australia. Does anyone have a Dulux equivalent. I'm getting desperate as the cabinet maker needs my colour choice asap.
